Amityville Poltergeist is about a young man who encounters a weekend of horrors after taking a housesitting job from a spooky old woman. While interviewing for the housesitting job, the old woman, Rebecca Morse says that she is not scared about anyone getting into the house, she is more afraid about what's already in the house. As day turns to night, doors start slamming, steps begin to creak, and the ghosts come out to play or kill.

Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting Partner [a predictable plot] with underwhelming scary sequences and a reliance on replaying the same scenarios over and over again, and the film feels like a slog somewhere around the halfway point. Rated: 1.5/5 Nov 7, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

rob l It didn't have anything to do at all with Amityville, but it was "better" than a lot of them. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Once, this movie was called No Sleep, then Don't Sleep, then it became an Amityville movie because that's what you do sometimes if you want your movie to get out there, I guess. Hey — director and co-writer Calvin Morie McCarthy is out there doing it, I guess. So anyways, as you can guess, this has nothing to do with Amityville, yet when has that stopped us in the past? Jim is a poor college student who gets a House of the Devil job housesitting for a strange woman named Eunice, even after he's been warned that the house itself is evil. Right away, he can't sleep what with all the nightmares and the supernatural stuff that happens when he's awake may be even worse. Of course, most of this movie takes place in a room with people just talking to one another. It gets boring and yet never gets into murderdrone territory where it feels like the kind of mind numbing drugs that my brain demands, instead being merely like drinking an O'Doul's and wondering why you're not drunk. I realize that they're going to keep making Amityville movies and I'm going to keep watching them. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Chris J Amityville Poltergeist - Not Rated (1h 29m) 2020 - Horror 1.5/5 stars So, the last Amityville film for now. With at least 10 in some form of preproduction, this definitely won't be the end of the line for me. I also have two different documentaries that I'll be checking out before I'm done. This is another example of a film that was shot, edited and ready to be released, then the name Amityville was added to it. As I've stated below, unless you're out there making films yourself, please don't hate on others works. I try to be as honest as I can with my rating but I would never trash anyone for doing what they love. After speaking to director Calvin Morie McCarthy I gained an appreciation for what he was going for in this film. Originally it was intended as a "Ju-On" (Grudge) homage and you can definitely tell that from the film. I read several other reviews thst panned the film for being a slow burn. I think those individuals just don't understand that horror in general doesn't have to be non-stop jump scares. Overall, the effects and makeup were really well done, along with some good acting across the cast. There was one scene that I thought felt a little misplaced. I understood the paying respect to the horror genre but it didn't necessarily click with the rest of the film. Overall this definitely proves to me what can be done on a small budget and a group that love their craft! The director really hit a home run with me when he told me that he wants to make another that connects all 29 films together. He wouldn't go into detail but as I had mentioned after part five, I'm going to create a timeline/history that ties together all of the films. Even the ones thst weren't Amityville films to begin with. Stay tuned for that, my review on the documentaries and my regular reviews as I get back into my challenge of watching all 3,000+ films I own. #amityvillepoltereist #amityville29 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/21 Full Review Read all reviews
