Wildly uneven as a movie, "Assault Girls" is far from a classic but that doesn't stop it from being eminently watchable. Go to Full Review

01/07/2020 Not a bad movie, caught in on Netflix years ago. I was looking for something I've never watched before and ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Now, I'm not saying this is the greatest movie but it's worth a watch if you want something different for a change. I really don't think it had much of a storyline but isn't that a basic MMO? See more 08/19/2013 With lacking in story, this film made up with creativity, this film would have been a lot better off as an anime and an actual story, either wise, it wasn't much of a film! I enjoyed this film to an extent, this film seemed to have too much B-roll and seem to go on and on during unnecessary scenes. It almost seemed like Mamoru Oshii forgot that he was making a future length film and he just threw a bunch of scenes in to fill the holes. But there were great things about this film, the visual effects, for being what seemed low budget, were tremendously excellent, this film had a lot of great creativity through-out its entirety and that is what I loved most about this film. Being a movie revolving around video games, this was a great one at that, the film shared a similar Final Fantasy atmosphere and if this was turned into a YouTube short or a anime/series, this would have been hands down, amazing! See more 07/12/2013 This movie was absolute garbage. Twenty minutes of the movie was dedicated to characters walking in the desert. Fifteen more minutes were dedicated to a snail moving and a dog standing by a statue. Then there was this orb and such and it did things that weren't exciting or entertaining in any way. This movie had very little assault as the title advertised. There were girls though and that's why I give it a half a star. See more 09/02/2012 A sequel of sorts to Avalon, Assault Girls gets high points for its visuals from gorgeous cinematography to its cooler than cool costumes but its lack of a plot makes it hard to sit through even at 66 minutes. Rumor has it that this was just a taste of whats to come with several more Assault Girl films on the way which is fine by me but I hope the next one will have more in the way of a story rather than this ones paper thin tale of four gamers teaming up to take out a level boss. See more 08/07/2012 75% This movie is intended for hardcore gamers who think the meaning of life is hidden within a game. It wants to be deep and intriguing through symbolisim that holds the very essance of humanity...in a video game. This, I'm sure will be lost on most. The lovely, glossy landscape (even though it's a barren wasteland) is the best thing about this short film. All in all, it feels like a single chapter in a bigger flick. See more 08/02/2012 the pacing was a bit slow to try to add to the surrealism, the idea behind it is excellent and it was done alright, but could definitely have been done much better, still a good watch for any gamer out ther though See more Read all reviews
