Audience Member I really wanted to like this movie. The concept seemed like it would be fun, but the execution is terrible. The script, direction, and the acting of most of the cast is really terrible. The actress who plays Anka seems relatively capable, but when the direction is as bad as this, she's always going to have a hard time putting in a quality performance. The actress who plays the best friend is so stilted and disconnected from her performance that it's hard to watch the scenes in which she appears. You don't get the idea that she likes Anka, let alone considers her a best friend. It's as if she's reading each line as she delivers it. The Moretti family is nearly as bad as the best friend character, but it's more acceptable, since they primarily act as foils for the 'jokes' delivered by the primary characters. It's strange, because the tone of the entire movie is dark and sort of morose, but it tries to be slapstick in certain scenes. The fight between the former boyfriend and Ralph is bizarre, at best. The score, which sets a mood completely at odds with what seems like an attempt at comedy, contributes to the disconnect between the mood and the intent. This is a great example of a fine idea utterly ruined in the execution.
