Audience Member I get strong glimmer of George Romero and Michele Soavi, directors of what certainly can be called Italian horror films. Director Ricardo Islas did an excellent job with what he had to work with. You'll note use of coloration in the early part of the film especially. I think the first I have seen of this technique was with the 1969(?) film, 'The Terror,' with Boris Karloff. Dario Argento has used this in the original 'Suspiria' for effect -- good techique, if not over-used, if used properly. Especially, I like how the plot weaves in and out of spotlight Internet and technical reality, worth mentioning for those reading here will almost certainly be looking at a computer monitor or tablet screen. I like this film quite a lot at first sight because I see a lot that I can appreciate. It speaks to me to be about so much more than a horror plot; I hope I am not exaggerating it to members of this audience. I've a certain fondness for Italian horror film. Watching Romero's 'The Crazies' last month brought back a lot of memories, and you can see in Bachelors Grove something of a grain of thematic reprise. Romero's film was something of a reaching masterpiece -- the non-stop acting was quite notable, and although this film hereof isn't quite as chop-chop punchy, the only dull moment in my opinion was near the beginning before the film actually throws its ball to be quarterbacked, if you know what I mean. I was left wondering if the potential would amount to anything, looking straight at a doubtless B-movie. I admire love that I see put into the film, a general appreciation of the human spirit that you can't get by looking in metaphor. I perceive that this film speaks to a literate mind, so you probably won't be talking about what you think you see in it that can be traced to appearances of literature weave. I have an INWO approach on this matter, for anyone whom ever played the Steve Jackson trading card game: Clone Arrangers placed this character there, Bob ... just for reality check. That was all that I said -- there for a little appreciation of all the fun there was to have before the UFO's came and buried us players alive, and for way too long! I like an integration perspective. This isn't a cult film, but it has one's imagination. I'm censoring myself on what I think the viewer could potentially appreciate. These characters -- some weak, some flawed, and some strong despite their role. This is not a gore flick, although you'll find enough to trip its checkmark. The one thing that I do not like -- that it seems that I have to read the movie's synopsis in order to connect with what explains why the plot unfolds as it does. Was that intentional, I can't say; at some point, easy to miss by blinking, the allusion seems to have been made in the film itself, perhaps in passing. Let's see what your thoughts about this one have to offer. I think the film deserves 3.5 stars because it's definitely not a film that deserves to be buried and forgotten. I think that there will be something to appreciate for many who watch this film to the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
