In a classic Disney animation, a fawn named Bambi joins his new friends, a young rabbit named Thumper and a skunk kit named Flower in happily exploring the woods. Bambi is captivated with a young doe named Faline, and he learns from his doting mother and his father -- the Great Prince of the Forest -- that besides the delights of the forest, there is danger in open meadows where hunters can see them. Disney starts to reach for a higher thesis but ultimately falls short, they will eventually find the nuance they clearly were looking for here in future films, but sadly Bambi just starts to scratch the surface of what they were ultimately looking for.

Crítica resumida – Bambi (1942) Bambi é um dos filmes mais emocionantes entre os primeiros lançados por Walt Disney, marcado por um contraste poderoso: ao mesmo tempo em que é encantador, repleto de personagens adoráveis e com destaque para o protagonista fofo que transmite a doçura da floresta e a beleza da natureza, também é assustador ao lidar com o peso da perda, o medo do fogo e a ameaça constante do caçador — um dos vilões mais impactantes da Disney justamente por nunca aparecer e ser tão realista. O filme trata com naturalidade o ciclo da vida, passando mensagens profundas de forma acessível. Os traços da animação são belíssimos, assim como as cenas de ação, que ainda hoje impressionam. Um clássico atemporal e inesquecível. Nota 10/10.

Bambi is a decent three-star animated classic that has its moments but didn’t fully win me over. While the animation is beautiful and the story has emotional depth, some aspects felt a bit slow or heavy. It has charm and significance, but it’s not a film I’d revisit often.
