Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is a weapons officer aboard the destroyer USS John Paul Jones, while his older brother, Stone (Alexander Skarsgård), is the commanding officer of the USS Sampson. Unknown to Alex, Stone or the rest of the U.S. Navy, alien invaders have arrived on Earth with plans to steal Earth's resources. When a confrontation with the invaders knocks out the Navy's radar capability, American and Japanese forces must work together to find a way to save the planet.

Some people will tell you that Battleship is a bad film. And they will be right. But it is still a better film than a lot of other action and effects-dominated movies out there. Especially ones based on toy franchises.

It's a movie based on a board game, what exactly are you looking for? Fun movie with a great historical Battleship USS Missouri. If you like the game and Navy movies, this is a great time! Be entertained and enjoy.

Reading some of the reviews from top critics, instead of trying to find faults with films, why not watch and enjoy the moment, put yourself in the film,feel the energy and enjoy yourself. Ohh and watch the end credits.

I literally rewatched it this morning and it’s awesome. Sit back, enjoy the cheesy action, macho style hero movie. We all wish we had a character arc like the main actor. Don’t let the negative reviews fool you, this movie is so fun.

Those critical of this movie expect too much of this film. One negative review described it as "Transformers at Sea" and I think that perfectly captures the movie's tone. Yes, the plot is quite two dimensional, but the point of it is to enjoy the amazing special effects and action - with a tiny homage to the original boardgame in the bouy scene! Besides, it does a wonderful job incorporating real veterans into the story and cast, showing that when it matters most they are always willing and ready to serve.

How did I forget Liam Neeson was in this?? This movie embraces cheesiness in every awesome way. The critics need to get over themselves. In fact watching in 2025 it has a better plot than alot of action movies today.
