Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is a weapons officer aboard the destroyer USS John Paul Jones, while his older brother, Stone (Alexander Skarsgård), is the commanding officer of the USS Sampson. Unknown to Alex, Stone or the rest of the U.S. Navy, alien invaders have arrived on Earth with plans to steal Earth's resources. When a confrontation with the invaders knocks out the Navy's radar capability, American and Japanese forces must work together to find a way to save the planet.

I thought battleship was a well acted and well directed popcorn film I saw this in theaters with my dad and I had an awesome time with it the same year I saw avengers which is technically a better movie critically speaking but I have a soft spot for this movie and I actually rewatched it multiple times more than avengers like I was more invested with it and people just calling it dumb is just dumb itself the only thing dumb about battleship is its subject being based on a children's board game by hasbro but as long as the acting is mature and the plot is interesting or exciting you can get involved with the drama in the film. Taylor kitsch is great as the lead its just too bad he hasn't gotten many films to work he seriously deserves future Oscar glory. battleship wasn't going for Oscars outside of maybe special effects and sound which are defiantly Oscar worthy if there was anything battleship can get an Oscar for. this movie is just popcorn fun and audiences should enjoy it and especially more favorably than critics as this is a film that was destined to appeal to audiences and not critics. the two things that make me like battleship are its impressive visuals, background color schemes, graphics and the premise of using battleships against alien ships in the ocean. I remember the climax where they were firing their cannons and it was just awesome seriously people need to stop being so rude especially since they gave popcorn films like this praise before this movie is no different and yet they get the audacity to dump on it they are trolls do yourself a favor ignore the haters and give battleship a chance it is an awesome popcorn film and a certain must watch for those who love big summer action flicks where you don't think and have fun seeing it as long as there are a couple of likable characters and involving drama then its a good action film that entertains you without insulting intelligence.

The plot has been done countless times; aliens trying to destroy Earth and some hero has to save us. Fast forward the first 30 minutes of the movie and you'll be treated to non stop spectacular destruction and explosions. My favourite scene is the alien getting shot a close range with the ship's cannon. It's fun to watch and I got goosebumps when those old timers volunteered to man the USS Missouri.
