Lt. Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) is a weapons officer aboard the destroyer USS John Paul Jones, while his older brother, Stone (Alexander Skarsgård), is the commanding officer of the USS Sampson. Unknown to Alex, Stone or the rest of the U.S. Navy, alien invaders have arrived on Earth with plans to steal Earth's resources. When a confrontation with the invaders knocks out the Navy's radar capability, American and Japanese forces must work together to find a way to save the planet.

The plot has been done countless times; aliens trying to destroy Earth and some hero has to save us. Fast forward the first 30 minutes of the movie and you'll be treated to non stop spectacular destruction and explosions. My favourite scene is the alien getting shot a close range with the ship's cannon. It's fun to watch and I got goosebumps when those old timers volunteered to man the USS Missouri.

Definitely have to watch. Is it outlandish? Yes. Is it a spectacle? Yes. Does it defy all logic? 100%. Point is it is a guilty pleasure. It reminds me of why I love the Fast and the Furious. Plus having retired and current members of our armed forces is amazing. Honestly if you don't feel a sense of pride and reverence when the ask the "old salts" of the Missouri for help, or when Thunderstruck starts blasting as one of the greatest O.G. ships in our maritime history rises from its slumber "blood starts pumping" to show the world who's boss, then you have missed the point. P.S. I wrote this out of the frustration of these lame ass verified top critics. My recommendation for them is to remember this is a movie not a dick so, don't take it so hard.

A guilty pleasure of mine. It's super fun and has tons of rewatchablity. Love the cast, score and it doesn't take itself seriously. They know they're in a board game movie that isn't boring.... get it? Very fun time!
