Come, Said the Night is advertised as a horror/suspense movie but it is so much more than that. In truth it is a coming-of-age story for 13-year-old Sprout Grady...in a rather unusual family. Nicole Moorea Sherman is outstanding in the role - you will smile with her, scream with her and cry with her as she and the Director pull you into her life and allow you to experience her feelings. There is a clever plot line in which the family worships Ancient Greek gods, which provides a great metaphor for whatever religion you want to put into its place. The rest of the cast is outstanding as well, and the chemistry between Sprout and her father (played brilliantly by Lew Temple) is mesmerizing.

Come, Said The Night was incredible! It was thrilling, suspenseful, eerie and mind-bending all at once. Well written, well shot, and amazing use of music.

Come, Said the Night is a slow build suspenseful film filled with heart. The focus on the movie is 13-year-old Sprout Grady, who suffers from sleep paralysis and is haunted by some kind of being, while managing the transition from girl to woman and all its related challenges. Newcomer Nicole Moorea Sherman is amazing in the role. You will be scared with her, cry with her and laugh with her as she grows up and takes control of her situation. A perfect film representation of the struggles a young teenager goes through while dealing with some rather frightful experiences. The cinematography - all done with single camera - is outstanding as well.

Slow to build and somewhat predictable overall, Come, Said the Night is an excellent psychological horror film about the dangers of Psychotic Depression and the need to control the fates of your children through sexual repression. It deals with the subtle balance between gods, monsters and men as none of them can ever be fully trusted. If you enjoy a dark and subtle horror with a touch of the macabre, this is one you should enjoy. It is a fascinating film and one that I would be surprised if it did not become a cult favorite. https://latetothegame.blog/2019/03/10/gods-monsters-men-a-review-of-come-said-the-night-2019/
