Blood Reaper is a camp slasher released in 2003 and directed by Lory-Michael Ringuette. Blood Reaper is a have-to-see for slasher movie fans like me. Yes, in ways, it is technically your typical in the woods type horror film, but come on, who doesn't love those? If you're expecting gore and violence, you're gonna get a lot of that. If you're looking for suspense and atmosphere, you'll get some of that. If you're looking for decent acting, characters, and dialogue, you'll get tons of that too. Blood Reaper instead of only focusing on slice and dice and typical jocks and bimbos in the woods getting chopped to bits, it focuses on mood and character development. Instead of stupid characters like we get in most of these SOV slashers, we get average characters who act like normal college kids in the woods having fun, and also in scary situations. It's a lot smarter than a lot of camp slashers, especially films like "Camp Blood" and "Don't go in the woods alone" and "Ax 'Em". Now I will say there are times where the characters aren't the smartest, but after all, they are college kids. The killer looks really cool and Michael Fuller did a good job of portraying him. I also like the fact that it borrows elements from some of my favorite films such as Friday the 13th, The Burning, The Prowler, Madman, Halloween, Black Christmas, Psycho, etc. Not only does it borrow elements from these films, but it does it very well. It's the perfect mix between cheesy fun and atmospheric, scary camp slasher fun. Another thing I really liked about this movie is the soundtrack. I love the eerie, Friday the 13th, and Halloween type score whenever something scary happens or whenever the movie makes you think something scary is going to happen. I also gotta give a huge round of applause to the fair and share of awesome rock music in this film! I got one thing to complain about though, the camera quality. Now I'm not gonna say it's one of the worst camera quality in the world, but it's pretty bad. And that kind of sucks because the shots and the lighting are excellent and totally set the mood. But the quality, especially on the DVD copy I got, isn't good at all. But it doesn't bother me all that much cause at least I can still see what's going on. My overall thoughts: It's a fun, cheesy, well-made slasher film and I recommend it!

It was a nice little camp slasher flick. I love the killers' design in the movie, yes the killers' design is a lot different than it is on the cover. It had poor camera work and not the best acting, but it wasn't the worst either. The characters are interesting unlike in most campy slashers from the 2000's era. The movie is still filled with problems but I'd give this a watch. It's not scary per se, but it has some great kills and a great atmosphere.

As far as terrible, micro-budgeted B-slashers go, Blood Reaper is okay. It takes no risks whatsoever, running with the absolute standard of the genre and deviating not even in the slightest. But, what tiny amount of money the makers of this film did have, they used it on blood (note: not gore effects. Just ... blood). Thus, it's unintentionally hilarious from start to close ( and how many other slasher films explain their killer's backstory ... in song?). So, if you get a kick out of abysmal B-horror, you'll like Blood Reaper. If not, you've probably never even heard of this film to begin with, and you're just better off that way.

MEIN GOTT! This is bad. Poor camera angles, the blood is like fruit punch, poor, forced acting, everything. Don't see it.
At least the DVD cover is cool.
