Stefan Birgir Stefans sbs.is I can’t quite describe what makes these Subspecies films work. They are, in a way, comforting, cozy. They aren’t slow but they aren’t quick paced either. The characters are all likeable, the effects are good, the monsters are scary. It just works. Rated: 3/5 Sep 9, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

R P In Bloodlust Subspecies III we continue with the horrible Radu, however, he has become a bit more sensitive. Talking about missing his brother and how he feels for Michelle. He also has terrible mommy issues. I mean, what happened to our evil, crazy Radu? That's the vampire I'm here for. (https://foreverfinalgirl.com/bloodlust-subspecies-iii/) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/22 Full Review Audience Member Michelle (Denice Duff) — who we last saw in Bloodstone: Subspecies 2 being grabbed by the mummified mother of Radu Vladislas (Anders Hove) and pulled deep into the catacombs beneath the Full Moon castle. Now, Radu is brought back to life with Michelle's blood and the dagger that killed him, with our heroine promising to follow Radu if he teaches her how to be a vampire and takes her on the hunt. Soon enough, Radu realizes that if he's going to be with her forever, he's going to have to kill his mother. That certainly fixes some issues on the holidays, I guess. Radu gets killed in every movie and this time, he's tossed off the roof of the castle and impaled on a tree and then burns in the sunlight. But if we know anything about our friend Count Vladislas, he'll be back trying to win over Michelle before too long. This was shot back to back with the last film, which means that yes, you will be seeing a flashback to fill out the running time. Such is the Full Moon experience. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm quite surprised at myself for having not watching this Charles Band Full Moon Features production before and have quickly become a fan of the Subspecies series of films. I think what I like most about the series is that the vampires here are neither the Bela Lugosi elegant gentlemen type, nor are they the emo Anne Rice/Sookie Stackhouse type of vampires. The vampire Radu is a nasty scary looking monster. In many ways, he reminds me of the Steve Niles vampires in "30 Days of Night." In this third installment, Radu is still controlling one of the sisters from the previous film and her other sister is trying to free her from Radu's thrall. As with the previous films, this was competently directed by Ted Nicolaou, who makes the most of the European locations and the real-life castle that was owed by Band's production company at the time (and which appeared in just about every Full Moon film of this era, even one misguided Trancers film). Anders Hove continues to be creepy as Count Radu, the practical special effects are solid (and bloody), and the production values are better than most Full Moon productions. Overall, this one is a must see for fans of Charles Band films, but honestly this film is probably not one for non-fan of Full Moon Features. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A more pleasanylt sequel:-! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The Subspecies story takes a turn for the better with this entry that was filmed at the same time as part 2. This not only saved Full Moon some cash but allowed for greater continuity, returning cast members and a finally to the story arc. As this can almost be considered the climax of the story arc started in part 2, it's a much more enjoyable watch. Radu has a more prominent role and all the awesome from part 2 gets a return in part 3 including Radu's mother which is an amazing piece of physical FX. *spoiler alert* As this ends the story arc it also ends with a quite definite ending as Radu falls to his death... (can he really be dead?). As it would finish off a trilogy, it truly feels like a finished story and the audience comes away with their happy ending and a sense of completion. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Fledgeling vampire Michele has given in to her bloodlust to join Radu in an unholy alliance, but Michele's sister Becky will not allow her to cross over without a fight! BLOODLUST continues the SUBSPECIES vampire saga at its own leisurely pace, retracing many of the same plot points from the previous films but with far less success. It isn't without its moments, however. Michele's first attempt to lure her prey using her new-found powers is highly atmospheric and brilliantly shot using only the most basic editing techniques as effectively as possible. The contrast between Denise Duff's pale beauty and Anders Hove's sinister, rat-like appearance set against their dark surroundings also makes for a number of striking images. Their sexual tension continues to grow as they push and pull away from one another in a game of cat and mouse. Although it takes a step down from the second film, fans of the series are still sure to enjoy this third entry. -Carl Manes I Like Horror Movies Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
