Tony S I guess the main difference between the third movie and The Next Kumite is that its plot managed to be even more moronic than previously. Dragging out and justifying a very silly "revenge" motivation. John Rhys-Davies first wants Cardo in the Kumite, then changes his mind and spends the rest of the movie trying to keep him out, despite going as far as committing assassination with looney tunes dynamite under the table. Then, being yang to this yin, Judge Macado (who is apparently an actual taekwondo master) first doesn't want Cardo to enter Kumite for the sake of revenge, but then says that he must do it anyway a couple of scenes later, probably because he wanted to shoot with his bow. Poetry. I know I'm asking too much from a direct-to-video sequel to an 80's trashy tournament movie written by a guy who apparently has never and would never write anything else. It's difficult to take anything seriously when the film is peppered with scenes of Cardo in the casino fighting off ninjas while dressed as a James Bond cosplayer (this might be a Frank Dux reference, but it would be giving too much credit to the movie) while refusing to have sex with Macado's niece because she's like "family" to him. Plain and simple, the Kumite sucked, probably because the movie wasn't even focused on it, with just a couple of fighters standing out visually, such as Ayndi. The movie was apparently not interested in all that fighting either, since the entire thing ends up rushing and sloppily editing itself through the whole 20 minutes. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/22 Full Review Audience Member Fighting was really great but that's about it the rest was not great at times! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Nowhere near as good as the first two. What a let down Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member The beginning father son scene sets the mood, cheesy. Only to be followed up by a casino robbery with samurai swords. This movie also gets more into spiritual mysticism such as lighting fires with just your hand. The Kumite was all about hand to hand combat, but a weapon is used in one of the fights. Needless to say, this movie strays away from the original idea but then tries to copy it at the same time. A bad movie but better than the sequel. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Third entry is yet again a mess from start to finish. This is a painful film for action fans that doesn't have anything going for it. The cast is horrible and the direction is poor, with no emphasis on telling a great story, the third film was a pointless attempt at delivering a sequel that simply didn't stand out, and turns to be awful in the end. The fight scenes are dull, boring and really don't offer anything. A trip to the dentist is a far more awesome experience than watching Bloodsport 3. This is a bad film, and one that I really don't see why they made in the first place. Bloodsport fans will surely be disappointed with the result and there's nothing here to make it interesting for the viewer watching this abysmal train wreck. Considering that this is the third film in the series, it's really no surprise that they couldn't deliver anything more with the film. The film is the same old, same old that relies on recycled ideas from previous films. This is not an enjoyable ride, and this is among one of the worst sequels ever made. The film was definitely a misfire right from the start, and it shows due to a lacking script, a poor cast and even worst directing. Bloodsport 3 definitely isn't worth watching and it is a film that is plainly horrible, dumb and cheesy. Avoid watching this garbage; you'll be glad you did. This was awful and had no redeeming aspects going for it whatsoever. If only they put a bit effort into this film, maybe it would have worked, but it didn't, and the result an awful film that is horrible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member It's just as bland as the 2nd one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
