Andrea C Progetto polacco targato Netflix che, tratto da una storia vera, racconta senza troppo romanzare le gesta di un famoso alpinista. Immagini ben eseguite e anche abbastanza spettacolari, soprattutto se si considera la patria del progetto, sicuramente non avvezza a grandi budget. Manca invece colpevolmente l'aspetto emozionale; molto piatti tutti i dialoghi e le relazioni tra i personaggi, non si sente il dramma ne la gioia, non ci sono quegli stacchi che hanno reso altri film del genere assolutamente più emozionanti e strazianti. Berbeka reaching the Rocky Summit, not the actual peak, is a tragedy, but it is not the most heartbreaking part of this story. Before diving into the most important aspect of it - his death - the movie just ends. I was hoping to learn about the details of this tragic expedition, which ends with the death of two climbers (out of four) and its aftermath, which divided the polish mountain climbing community. It would be interesting to get to know both sides of the discussion which followed and learn about Bieleckis point of view, who was under a lot of scrutiny from some of his colleagues. This story has potential to further explore the moral aspects of mountain climbing - which already play a huge role in the first part of the movie - not only the adventure and risk taking. Ireneusz Czop, Maja Ostaszewska, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. This true story about mountaineer Maciej Berbeka was dramatic, intense, and tragic. It's about fighting to survive and completing your ultimate goal in life. If you're a Netflix member, you should watch this movie sometime. It's worth watching. Rated 3/5 Stars •  Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Jake R This is an incredible biographical drama film that does a very good job recreating and portraying the original story. It is true to the actual story and tells it in a very effective manner. It is worth noting that non-mountaineers may not enjoy this film as much since it focuses more heavily on the mountain climbing itself. While I would not rate this a 4.5/5 in filmography compared to "most" movies, I feel that it deserves this score amongst the realm of biographical films, which I normally find quite dull. Perhaps it would be more of a 3.5/5 compared to say the Lord of the Rings - a comparison which I would argue isn't even worth much since they are so different. Biographical films are difficult to make especially when they don't deviate from the original story. This was anything but boring. Cinematography: 5/5 - the CGI/edited drone footage over the Karakoram Range is well done considering much of this film was made at much lower altitude. Acting: 4.5/5 - the actors did a very good job showcasing what exhaustive mountaineering looks like. While there were a few moments that their interactions didn't always seem realistic, these would slip past most viewers. Vocal dubs (English): 3/5 - could be better or more attentive to detail Writing: 4/5 - A small number of scenes felt unrealistic, such as not wearing full winter coats outside in winter on a mountain (this was just once). One or two scenes felt unnecessary or lacking in depth. Editing: 3.5/5 - some scenes felt like they started and ended mid-conversation or abruptly. Some panoramic shots took too long or were too short. It would have also been nice to have seen a map or altimeter at points in the film for comparison of distances and height. The result is a well told, very well shot, supported by good acting by extremely well chosen cast. Unfortunately, especially for those who know how dramatic the end of the real story was, the film lacks the climax. Still well worth seeing - not just for mountain aficionados.
