Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Unfortunately, watching Camera Store mainly feels like, well, spending an entire day in a camera store in a nondescript suburban mall. Dec 15, 2016 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Downbeat, wordy, theatrical -- but a fascinating failure built on a terrific talkative turn by John Larroquette. eric d I think the plot and the store really do a great job of taking you back in time and reliving this day (Christmas Eve 1994). Despite the critics this movie really has a cult following due to the subject matter, setting and location. The story revolves around "Change" which is the only Constant. Even though the story is over one day it slowly reveals what lead all the characters to where they are now. Great movie, acting and story. Being a photographer is an added bonus but the moral of the story is don't let life pass you by. Follow your own minds not the critics, give it a chance you won't be disappointed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Sadness is too small a word. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I guess I can learn about a movie that is perfect in every way. Except , if your audience cannot relate, then there is no pain, no frustration, and no empathy. However, I relate to business. I relate to a business that died. I relate to a man of ethics. And I relate to a person of ethics that is taken down by one of less ethics. This movie has all the relavance as a movie about the Korean War. People gave their soul to survive, and future generations don't care. This is a great movie. I know many Ray's. This deserves a higher rating. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth the time. John LaRocquette is good. The story ramps up slowly but it is worth the wait. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A very good movie. Funny, dark, heartwarming, heartbreaking. Deserves to be classic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a wonderful, very funny, brilliantly written and directed film! It is a dark comedy / drama from screen writer Scott Marshall Smith. It stars John Larroquette and John Rhys-Davies. Both give very powerful, outstanding performances and are wonderful together. They are so good that you totally forget that Larroquette once played Dan Fielding on the 80's sitcom "Night Court". Rhys-Davies performance is so grand that you get see him as an even bigger character than Salah, from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark". The movie takes place in an indoor mall, in the year 1994, on Christmas eve. At this point in time, the transition from modern film to even more modern digital film and equipment is about to take place. Larroquette is a long time manager of the camera store that at one time he owned. Rhys-Davies plays his long time employee and friend, Both find themselves confronting their personal issues as well as business issues as they try to keep the camera store in operation trying their hardest not to have to fold under the pressure of the digital world, but also not giving into their uncaring, unfeeling, wealthy, boss played by Paul Ben-Victor . There are a lot of great characters in this movie as well, and all have a purpose and a reason to be here. There is a mystery girl played outstandingly by Maddie McCormick. She befriends a guy who is sent by Paul Ben-Victor's character to observe Larroquette and his way of running the store. I don't like to give away to much of the story of the films I review, so I'm going to leave things at that. I will say this is that a very funny movie. I laughed out loud several times and when I left the theater I couldn't stop telling people about it. It is in limited release so see it as soon as possible.
