Audience Member Camp Blood was released in 1999 yet it looks like it was filmed with a home video camera from the 1980s. Camp Blood focuses on 4 friends going out to Camp Blackwood known by locals as "Camp Blood" for a weekend camping trip. I will not speak negatively about the director because me and him did build up a little bit of a friendship but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna criticize this film because, well, I am. This is a nice little tribute to Friday the 13th, it's not really anything original though. It's basically just your cheap slasher set in a camp. Does this film having a plot you've seen like 300 times make it a bad horror movie? Well, yes and no. There are a lot of problems going into this movie, for example, the editing. The editing is pretty low even for a microbudget horror flick. There is one scene where one of the male characters is swinging on a random Tarzan swing and you get very poorly shot POV shots and then an abrupt transition to the clown wandering around in the woods for a split second and then you cut back to the friends doing their things. The clown does look creepy so that is one positive for sure! The sound effects are also a problem. Whenever someone gets killed, it sounds kinda like a cash register. Overall I'd say that this movie is so bad that it's decent. It's not too special but it isn't terrible either. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I will say yes, I do agree that this movie is poorly edited, poorly filmed, poorly produced, and just poorly made overall. Yes, the acting complete garbage, the camera quality is frustratingly bad, the sound effects are just petrifying, and the gore is just unfortunate. But this movie does have a decent atmosphere and a cool design for the killer, it also has a nice premise for the film. Am I saying this movie is good? No. I'm not saying it's good, I'm saying it's so bad that it is quite entertaining. So, therefore, I'm gonna be fair and give this one a 2/5. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review steve d A really bad and really cheap Friday the 13th rip off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A laughable, truly awful movie with no talent. Good thing it was a short movie, but they could have made it a 30 minute feature. What they paid the actors with is beyond me. I made fun of the movie to myself to keep from falling asleep from boredom. I will try to watch "Camp Blood 2", maybe a few beers will help. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member So this is a pretty mundane slasher, it really could be any other crappy low budget/no budget horror, there's nothing stand-out about it. I thought the gore FX were good though. What is it with these movies and the poor cinematography? Do these people just have NO ambition visually? The acting was better than normal in these types of movies but it still doesn't make it less dumb. Why the hell did the girl on fire jump in the tent? JEEZ! I do not recommend this at all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It is slightly better than Camp Blood... but that really isn't saying much. The idea is interesting, but there are huge plot holes throughout. On the plus side, the film is so bad you won't want to think about it long enough to dwell on these plot holes. The clown mask is cool, and there's a pretty good little scene towards the beginning, but that really is the only positive things I've got.
