Audience Member Clearly influenced by the Robin Williams comedy and drama, Mrs. Doubtfire, it's not a completely blatant copy. That happens to be the film's strength and its weakness. In Mrs. Doubtfire (which was based on a young adult novel by English author Anne Fine) we see a couple get divorced and the court grants the father limited interaction with his children. So he puts on a disguise to be their Nanny. And that's really were the similarity ends. And you think that would be a good thing. Unfortunately, no. There are some scenes here and there that do get a good laugh now and then, like the fight scene and Jai's father-in-law being smitten by Chachi. But it's not enough to overshadow the biggest problem with the film. Let's look at Mrs. Doubtfire again. Miranda is a successful business woman while her husband Daniel can't hold a good job as an actor. In Chachi 420, we see that Jai works in movies and his wife Janki doesn't have a job. When Daniel and Miranda get a divorce, the kids live at her house. When Jai and Janki get a divorce, she moves back to her wealthy father. Towards the end when Janki and her father have an argument, he tells her she doesn't have a say in her father's house and that she did when she was married to Jai. SPOILER ALERT: when Janki thinks that Jai and Chachi are involved, she decides to go jump off a bridge (which would not have been fatal). The message this movie sends that women can't be independent not only sets it apart from the original, but it also serves as the biggest flaw.
