Critics Consensus

Perhaps it isn't quite as much fun as a movie about a murderous robot Santa ought to be, but for fans of holiday horror, Christmas Bloody Christmas is still a gift.

This is a gruesome slice of holiday cruelty that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else, and that’s exactly as it should be. Go to Full Review

The overall vibe here ends up being less “good dirty fun” than “foul-mouthed teenager trying to look cool.” Go to Full Review

It’s [not] a perfect film. The top half is talk-heavy. The lead character is somewhat annoying. [With] lots of neon light and oversaturated primary colors, much of the action is muddy and hard to discern... Go to Full Review

The film’s first act is soured by its insufferable dialogue. But in the rest of the film, Begos’s chaotic tendencies are channeled into sleek, stylish action that feels more focused than any of his prior work without feeling any less kinetic. Go to Full Review

While Christmas Bloody Christmas doesn’t come close to reinventing the Holiday horror film subgenre, it does deliver delightful exploitation cinema-like kills and stylistic tendencies. Go to Full Review

12/21/2022 It was pretty lame but I wasn’t there to see a movie with a plot. I’m a local from Placerville. I was curious about the local footage. See more 12/18/2022 I didn't care for it. It had too much cussing, way too much talking before the action or killing started. I wanted to get my money back after the first 5 minutes. See more 12/10/2022 A fun Christmas slasher movie that doesn't try to be anything else. I loved every minute! Saw it in theaters and immediately subscribed to Shudder and watching it again!!! See more Dave C Dec 28 I'm all for softcore bullshit hammy horror, but this goes another level and destroys itself... The lead is irritating, and the story is more about various guys wanting to have sex with her than it is about even trying to explain a murderous robotic Santa. I mean, the comedy horror value in that should be gold! See more Dan C @djeec Dec 27 There are movies made for a niche audience. Then there are films made for a select group of people. This is the later. The two main characters can't get through the first half hour of the movie without swearing every other word or stop debating about bands for five seconds. This screams of amateur filmmaking. In a good movie, you give info about your character and then move on to provide different info to learn something new about them. In Christmas Bloody Christmas, the characters I'm referring too are stuck in first gear. They can't talk about anything else, or be anything but obnoxious, so they inevitably become uninteresting and unlikable. At that point, why should anyone care? And a multi-million dollar Terminator Santa ends up at a small town toy store? How the hell does that happen? Oh wait, again, I don't care. Word of advice to the director: You're not experienced enough to make movies for yourself. You have to do something good first. See more Jeff K Dec 24 I loved it until they k1lled off Robbie. I was so p1ssed-off that I shut it off so I don't know what happened after that. The banter between Riley Dandy and Sam Delich was making this movie for me so... whatever Joe Begos. As for those complaining about the cussing, how do you not know people that talk like this? Especially when drinking. I found it super relatable and realistic. Why are you watching a slasher flick? Those ucking reviews should be ucking voided. See more Read all reviews
