Scott Nye Battleship Pretension Pasolini frequently uses those who push themselves to the margins of society to expose our collective and individual weaknesses, and our determination to maintain the image of order. Fra B I can't help but pity Pasolini for having to deal with the worst of the humans: the italians (i know it because I'm one) , nevertheless he managed to pull out of us something that represents us as much as it disgraces us. Italy, North and South, bourgeousie and worker, young and old, PP hears the voice of Italy in its confused, archaic, outmoded, sexist, unquestioned beliefs about sexuality. Discussion with the reigning intellegentsia are tellingly juxtaposed. Do these interviews represent the true Italy? PP asks Moravia. Yes and no, is the response. There is still a part of the Italian consciousness that does not speak of sexuality, yet what was revealed in the interviews was uninformed and beheld sexuality as almost sacrosanct. Concluding with the images of a marriage and its blessing is a hopeful promise for a more conscious future. This exploration remains relevant and undated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This is pure poetry. Pasolini shows us a photograph of Italy after the war traveling to the main cities and talking to people trying to understand what kind of basis we were creating for the society of the future.
