Graphically speaking, this is a piece of art: the drawings are beautiful!!! As for the story, it is a little complex, but even if you keep up with it, somehow, a certain lack of interest comes up at some point...

Defenetly war's are all BORING! Yes, history should be interesting (I know that in acting you need to understand the past and all the world's history and etc, etc), but gosh, is boring! Defenetly, the one who invented the guns for food hunting, was wrong and must be crying in the RIP stone: WHY HUMANS USE GUNS TO KILL THEMSELVES? Yep, cause we only use 10% of the brain...idiots. I still enjoy learning :P
Plot: At the end of 1918 while civil war is raging on in Russia, antagonism is slowly spreading to the East, between the Oural mountains and Shanghai. Imperial Russia, and starting from a clean slate, old generals, secret organizations, and mercenaries attracted by gold, struggle to take advantage of the events. Stars? None.
Music: No need this time for voice overs (they are good voices in any languages, but it DOSN'T HELP AT ALL, the film keeps being boring even visually! No offence to the artists behind the drawings). The score is the only one with all the stars.
To end this short review, 2 & a half stars to Corto Maltese. It could be more enjoyable if it wasn't DAMN SLOW! I do NOT recommend it unless your studying acting and history of the world. Enjoy and HASTA LA PROXIMA AMIGOS/AS!!! CHAO!!! BLESS YOU ALL!!! PEACE & LOVE MY FRIENDS!

Corto Maltese est un des plus charismatiques personnages de la bande-dessinee europeenne, un aventurier vagabond, cynique, anarchiste et sans attaches (un homme a marier en somme, et je ne preche pas pour ma chapelle^^). Ses peripeties autour du monde, melant exotisme, histoire et esoterisme, sont en regle generale passionnantes...ce preambule visant a demontrer que la base etant ce qu'elle est, il aurait ete difficile de foirer le long-metrage d'animation. Et de fait, "Corto Maltese et la cour secrete des arcanes" est une production europeenne comme on aimerait en savoureur plus souvent. Base sur l'album "Corto Maltese en Siberie", le scenario est extremement interessant, bien que parfois confus pour ceux qui n'auraient aucune connaissance prealable de l'univers dans lequel evolue le personnage. On mentionnera les decors, veritables merveilles de couleurs et de degrades, meme s'ils tranchent de maniere un peu radicale avec le trait plus sobre des personnages. Generalement soignee, l'animation souffre egalement a l'occasion d'un exces de sophistication qui ne la rend pas forcement credible. Mais ce ne sont la que de menus reproches qui n'enlevent rien a cette realisation solide et dotee d'une personnalite visuelle forte, qui respecte l'oeuvre de Hugo Pratt et peut soutenir sans honte la comparaison avec la creme des productions americaines et japonaises.
