Audience Member This adaptation of the novel contains a much more sensitive and passionate depiction of the characters and the epic story than did the famous 1965 feature film, at least to my taste. It may also be the best dramatic work Keira Knightley has done to date. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Audience Member I was especially disappointed that Yuri's death scene was even further from the book than the original movie. In the book, Yuri was riding on a tram, as in the film (not in a cafe). In the book, he does not see Lara just before his fatal heart attack, as he does in both movies. Also, this film has his and Lara's child being a son named Yuri, rather than the daughter named Tanya (as in the book and the first movie). I can understand why they didn't bother about Zhivago's third family with a woman named Marina, as described in the book - it always seemed superfluous. Overall, the plot changes in this movie were very disappointing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A good production of this heart-rendering classic. However, the mindless electronic background music (it can't be called a score) was an irritating distraction. This re-make could have been thoroughly absorbing had it been underscored with composed music rather than monotonous synthesized long tones. The exception was the vocal music, which was quite haunting and moving. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I admit that I saw it. I wish that I did not. Terrible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I have to say that this remake was incredibly well done. It was obviously made for a PBS audience and there are some interesting minor differences from the 1965 original that don't detract from my experience of the original or this rendition of the story. It was quite an epic and I found it worth watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I agree with all the positive reviews, but why oh why did Kiera Knightley have such a bad I agree with all the accolades but why did Kiera Knightley have such a bad wig? A 17year old wouldn't have hair that brittle and damaged. I could see the glue at her hairline. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
