Enai Noki Paayum Thota - 3.5/10. Disaster. In one word, that is what this film feels like. ENPT feels like it should have just stayed un released. Gautham Menon is still one of my favourite directors, but this film has really made me question his intentions. Like always in a Gautham film, this movie features a spectacular and catchy soundtrack, done by Darbuka Siva. Maruvaarthai still is addicting to listen to. The cinematography, as usual in a Gautham film, is amazing. Megha Akash, who has done films after this film was completed, does a good job in her technical debut film. Outside of those 3 positives, this film is just a muddled, head scratchingly familiar production. Dhanush surprisingly is not as effective in this film. He feels very out of place, and it's not his fault entirely. Gautham Menon directs his heroes in a certain way, and his performance is pretty much a carbon copy of other Gautham heroes. He tries his best with what is given to him, but he can't salvage the terrible script. The over usage of narration, not to mention the way the story unfolds, feels too artificial. Usually Gautham can bring this great realism based feeling to his sometimes unbelievable scenes, but in this film, it feels like all of that is gone. It just feels like he copied and pasted from his previous ventures. This makes this movie feel so lazy, and sadly, disappointing. Considering the production hell this film went through, the movie still looks pretty good for a 3 plus year delayed movie. However, the visuals and music can't save the movie's laziness and familiarity. Without a doubt in my mind, Gautham Menon's worst film in his career. Luckily, Dhanush had Asuran which was great, but Gautham Menon better deliver with Dhruva Natchathiram.

This movie was such a mess, the story was good but the screenplay was horrible and clumsy, I still don't understand why Dhanush selected this kind of script, after 4 years long wait it isn't that much worth it, and OMG needless songs
