DanTheMan 2 The ultimate exercise in pessimism. The handover hangs over this film like an unrelenting fog for there are no heroes in Full Alert, just misery and desperation. In Full Alert, escape might be possible, but people always tear each other apart instead. The always-reliable Lau Ching-wan turns in another awesome performance and, the madcap, boarding on slightly illegal, car chase is a banger that shouldn't be missed. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/30/23 Full Review c y Although some of its plots are implausible, Full Alert is still an exciting, gripping and compelling film, with some sense of humour. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/17 Full Review Audience Member It hasn't aged well and you can tell it was shot in a month. Poor lighting and angles plague the film in several places. 15 years ago it was nominated for 7 awards and won 2. What was once genuine, now feels like a parody. Fans of Ng or Wan Lau that think "the complexity of action and character are fascinating" may enjoy this dated melodrama. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrific performances and vulnerable characters add dimension to the basic cop vs robber storyline. Ching Wan Lau has a family, but they never overtake his humanness as a 10 year old cop. On the other side is the excellent Francis Ng, who plays the heist man with toughness and just a hint of scary. These two face off against each other in a tense cat and mouse chase, until the thrilling finale in (perhaps) Ringo Lam's finest movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member this is a great action crime thriller starring 2 powerhouse character actors lau ching wan and francis ng. if anything, just a lil' dated and ng's role needs fleshing out to bring their titanic struggle to the forefront with more credibility. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting plot... some great acting from Francis, Lau! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
