Josh G So the girl who dies at the begin, is dead until the kid discovers a the body which comes alive and tries to kill him. But only after his sister goes on a date where I guy can'r drive and hide by evil geese who can kill animals, and it's not but partially the grandfathers and grandmothers fault who killed her with a shovel at the beginning. So... It's means I wasted time watching it......I guess..... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Audience Member David (Eric Foster, Cry Wilderness) and Lynn have just become orphans and are sent to live with their mother's parents (Len Lesser, who was Uncle Leo on Seinfeld plays the grandfather) in their stately Victorian mansion. Yet the moment they arrive, strange things start happening, like the mysterious woman (Brinke Stevens!) who appears out of the shadows again and again, seemingly stalking them. There's also been a series of murders and David starts to wonder if his grandparents could be the killers. This was directed by Peter Rader. He followed this with Hired to Kill, the Escape to Witch Mountain TV movie and also wrote Waterworld. It was produced by Niko Mastorakis, who knows a thing or two about movies with killers in them. This isn't an expected slasher. There's definitely a very human drama going on here and things build to a pretty satisfying ending, if one that's downbeat. It's also totally the movie that M. Night Shyamalan was trying to make with The Visit, except that he spent $5 million on that film and this one cost much less. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review marco b Terribly acted but great ending. Two kids go to live with their grandparents after their father dies, but someone is after them. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I pride myself on watching awful campy horror movies. Plot? Illogical, the characters spit nonsensical exposition as if it's some profound revelation. Most of the plot holes are world breaking and often you'll wonder "what is the director wanting me to feel?". Main love interest is introduced as an awkward, creepy, and rude character but then loved the next scene. Seems like it may have suffered through massive rewrites or ran out of time and slapped reshoots together. A good point is the acting is hilariously awful, if you manage to wade through the long boring dialogue to get to the golden parts. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is really good, I was not expecting the ending at all, I would definitely recommend you watch it, it's on tubi Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review tim s "Grandmother's House" is a 1980's retro look and feel horror film that falls somewhere between Stranger Things and Goosebumps with a sprinkle of added gore. "Grandmother's house" may have come across as way more horrific in the 1980's but this really is more like a standard daytime film now.  The premise is simple, after the death of their father a now orphaned brother and sister go and live with their grandparents. The grandparents live in a slightly secluded modern looking ( 1980's ) farm house which is surrounded by a large orchard. The basement is large with a handy body sized fridge, and attic accessed easily by a staircase. We start off with an unnerving feeling grandma and grandpa are up to no good and the children are in peril. However the film twists in different directions due to the appearance of the children's presumed dead mother ( Brinke Stevens ) . Some of the plot and action is certainly more adult themed but overall it is a tame retro thriller rather than horror film. It has some nice touches and is full of nostalgia but a few of the performances let it down, particularly the boyfriend and the friend of the youngest child. Throughout the film I was fully engaged, due to the fact I was unsure how it would play out. This is testament to its relatively good pacing and story line.  "Grandmother's  house" which should be grandparent's house, is a nostalgic look at a play for a horror film that would appeal to all ages in the 1980's.
