Howard Smith (Grant Mitchell), a football coach and talent scout for Bedford College, visits a local jail, where he meets the prison team's gifted quarterback, Thomas Burke (Eddie Quillan). In an effort to lure Thomas into playing for his team, Howard negotiates a parole agreement for him. As Thomas gives new life to the team and helps them win games, Howard recruits a policeman's daughter, Jane (Betty Furness), to keep an eye on him.
