Nathaniel Muir AIPT Few movies comes across as ugly. A brutal rape scene is followed by more scenes of sexual violence in an exploitation movie that doesn't understand what it is trying to do. Rated: 1.5/10 Jul 26, 2020 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A strong and entertaining slasher film with some creative gruesome murders, and (for once) a great psycho. Dom P Not only is this movie hard to watch, but it’s also hard to understand why it even exists. The cheap camcorder visuals are painfully unappealing to the eye, making it lose any chance of it being thrilling. The audio is very harsh on the ears. The blood effects are so fake and excessive, and you can tell the only reason there is so much blood is so it can qualify as the most disgusting movie the director knows of. The only truly scary thing about this is the story. All nudity and sexual content is unbelievably tasteless and unnecessary. The script and dialogue is so poor, I couldn’t even bare to listen to any of the words coming out of the character’s mouths. I even feel my vocabulary negatively changing because of the extreme, useless, and excessive swearing. I don’t know who let this group film here, but clearly they didn’t read the script first. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/01/24 Full Review sean s This is a totally "over the top" horror movie full of cringy stereotypical characters and scenes. The acting wasn't too bad and was definitely overdone on purpose to add to the effect of the movie. The special effects were done very well, and there is something in this to offend everyone. Also, it borders on a porn movie... The director was a special effects master and ended up dying of a brain tumor, which helps explain this movie in a better way. I could give it a higher rating, but I wouldn't want to promote this movie too much. I understand the gist of it, but wouldn't want my kids, or any sane adult for that matter, falling on it by accident or due to my recommendation. Ha. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member With 516 uses of the f word, massive amounts of gore, a version that has hardcore inserts, alternate titles including The Bowling Horror and Big Balls, a long and violent assault scene and attacks on everyone of every sexual persuasion, Gutterballs is exactly the kind of movie that parents thought that their kids were watching and needed to be protected from in the video nasties era. In fact, it goes way beyond anything you think that it's going to go past. After said opening assault, a killer named BBK is hiding within the Xcalibur Bowling Centre, looking for revenge on the gang that attacked Lisa. The film blends slasher attacks — with a bowling theme — with a giallo-like killer with a bowling bag over his or her face. Seriously, if you are at all squeamish, I would avoid this one. There's a graphic penis destruction scene that will hurt even the hardiest of gorehounds. After saying that, I have to admit that I liked the humor of this film, as it brings in some good references, like the phone number for the bowling alley being 976-3845 (976-EVIL). There's also a sequel known as Balls Deep. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie that'll make you feel like you're watching a student film, until you get to the rape scene. Which, (Despite some good acting from the actress), feels like it was ripped out of cheap porn. That was also made by students.... So if you have a few free hours and wanna watch a overly gratuitous homage to old slashers. Yeah, don't waste your time with this garbage. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review steve d It failed to produce any scares or laughs. cheaply made and surprisingly boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The highlight of the movie was the automatic bowling ball cleaner (it had the best lines in the movie) and the special effects. As there were no likable characters in the movie I was disappointed that there was one less person killed than I had hoped for. Kudos to the director for making the artistic choice of hiring slutty girls to play slutty girls. The audio was very poor which might be considered a blessing due to the poor script. I would guess that 90% of the dialogue was ad-libbed. There was one spot where the dialogue was obviously overdubbed, you could tell because there was no ambient noise (of the bowling alley) when the dialogue was spoken. Every other word was an expletive, actually more than every other word. Every character in the movie was angry except for the few moments they were having sex, and almost all had sex. The movie adhered strictly the the horror movie rule that states any characters that have sex must die and dying while have sex is a great probability. The real horror of the movie was the class of friends these people were and that they had to spend two nights in a row bowling. Thank god I don't have any friends like them; even my enemies are nicer than these people. Moral of the story: Stay out of dark alleys.
