Namrata Joshi Outlook After taking a few steps forward, Bollywood returns to the familiar rut when it comes to women-centric films. Rated: 1/4 Jun 19, 2015 Full Review Andy Webster New York Times "A true love story has no end," Aarav says to his assistant. This one does, but by that point - despite its laudable warnings about brutally controlling husbands - it has shed much credibility. Jun 13, 2015 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express You are promised a touching love story; you get zilch. Rated: 0.5/5 Jun 12, 2015 Full Review Anupriya Kumar Reuters The tragedy of Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, like so many movies before it, is that it turns out looking and sounding so stupid. It could have worked if only the director had taken the effort to de-clutter it. Jun 5, 2017 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in The absence of a beating heart in either the dead-eyed Hashmi or the permanently worried-looking Balan also puts paid to director Suri's ambition to create a love story that will echo through the ages. Ahmed M THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW The film was an okay movie, but letdown by the poor decisions made by director Mohit Suri. One of which was, start the movie by showing us the ending, he made the same mistake for Ek Villain and repeats it here, which doesn't help the movie, but just makes it worse. The movie also feels like an already seen love story with a pint of just total randomness to just further advance the plot, which was totally unnecessary. In conclusion, this movie could've been better, it does show potential in the idea of the movie, but the poor writing, and choices by Mohit Suri, make this movie just another romantic movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/05/16 Full Review Audience Member Another of Emran Hashmi's master performance and as always not appreciated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Mohit Suri's last two movies, Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, were some of the best in the history of film. And how does he follow those up? With one of the dullest narratives imaginable-this story went in too many directions without going all the way in even a single one of those directions. Every single story arc was completely shallow. Ermraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan's characters were not developed at all. The only bright point was a couple of memorable melodies from Jeet et al. The lowpoint of Emraan's career-he has completely fallen from his throne. Hopefully this is a simple outlier in Mohit Suri's career-shameful follow-up of two classics with this dud. A good story and excellent acting wasted by old generation dialogues. The dialogues use cliche that could have been avoided – such as pati parmeshwar, abla Nari, beheram garibi, akelepan ki kalpana etc. Which will make it difficult for the audience to ..... Continue reading on www.KalpeshPrajapati.com Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Flawed and overly melodramatic Hamari Adhuri Kahaani is a film that makes the audience suffer as much as its characters. Its a distressing experience which you will either sleep through or it will end up inducing a headache. The story of a miserable love triangle with cringe-worthy dialogues and monotonous characters is what we are missing in Bollywood, isn't it great! The sad looking drama is pretentiously boring and synthetic. Instead of feeling sympathetic towards the characters I felt like laughing thinking how exaggerated the emotions were. What is more painful, is that it wastes the talents of some really good actors. Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi try their best but couldn't save this sunken ship. Rajkumar Rao was the best and convinces us with the sick character he plays. The only silver lining in this drivel was the title track sung beautifully by Arijit Singh and it induces more emotions than the film itself. Without that song the climax wouldn't have been heartfelt and much better than the rest of the film. I think one should just jump to the last 20 minutes skipping the rest of the film and having a much emotionally satisfying experience. Complete waste of time. RATING: [1/5] Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It's definitely a twin flame story, (those who know of this will understand) the movie was quite slow...I mean it was really slow, and got boring.
