A genuinely wonderful animated spectacle. The songs are great, the characters sound good and their personalities match the source material, it goes on for just the right amount of time and has a plot that genuinely brought me to tears. Garfield and Odie are bothering their owner Jon's neighbour. Odie is taken to the pound, and Garfield realises how much he really liked the pup and all of the great time they spent together. He goes to the pound to rescue, but is caught and locked up himself. He finds out Odie is about to be put down, and reminisces about their time together while a sad song plays. This part genuinely brought me to tears. Odie is taken to be put down, but Garfield and the other pound animals break out and stop it from happening. Garfield and Odie return home. This plot is extremely enjoyable, funny and emotional. It is also a very similar plot to the awful 2004 Garfield movie, which should be watched by no one ever and is basically just a much longer, much worse version of this. You should watched this and a few other specials instead.
Tl;dr "Here comes Garfield" is a fantastic, funny and emotional TV special which should be watched instead of the 2004 Garfield movie alongside some other specials.

A very uneven but fun animated feature, with everyone's favorite cat. It also has a very wonderful voice cast and it's fun for ALL ages. Well done.

Here Comes Garfield works in everything from beginning to end, thanks to Jim Davis himself writing and overseeing his creation (with direction of Phil Roman), Lorenzo's music immortal voice along with Gregg Berger, one-shot Sandy Kenyon, and the unforgettable music by Desirée Goyette, Ed Bogas and Lou Rawls.

One of Garfield's best stories in video form rather than on newspaper with heartwarming music and plot to emotion connection. The students of Garfield's TV specials did not perform well (the 2 live-action movies, the 3 direct-to-video movies, and The Garfield Show). Therefore, Here Comes Garfield was the beginning of Garfield's short-lived golden age starring in movies and TV.
