Simran Hans Observer (UK) Tepid, though not entirely charmless... Rated: 2/5 Jul 29, 2018 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Even watched beside various incarnations of the Addams and the Munsters, this remains the most family-friendly and proudly silly of all the monster dynasties. Rated: 3/5 Jul 27, 2018 Full Review Tristram Fane Saunders Daily Telegraph (UK) Hotel Translyvania 3 looks very much a B-movie, with characters that are easy to like but hard to love. Still, at just 97 minutes it doesn't outstay its welcome. Rated: 3/5 Jul 27, 2018 Full Review Caroline Cao Vague Visages For all the music that Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation offers, it amounts to a one-note production. Dec 13, 2023 Full Review Casey Cipriani Bustle ...though there's no sunshine in the movie, Hotel Transylvania 3 definitely has a summer vibe. And watching these characters try to navigate the naturally corny nature of a cruise ship vacation is pretty hilarious. bricela d enjoy it with my kid Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review Leviathan M Not bad for a threequel film, but I felt a bit lost for the last couple moments. The ending is something that lives in my head rent free, and the jokes are either hit or miss for 50% of the film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/06/25 Full Review BadNews R Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation This movie was honestly super cute and a refreshing continuation of the Hotel Transylvania franchise. By the third installment, you might expect things to feel stale, but instead it’s full of life, color, and heart. One of the sweetest elements is seeing Selena Gomez’s character, Mavis, now a mother. That dynamic adds a whole new layer to the story, because not only do we see her relationship with her father, Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler), but we also see how she balances being both a daughter and a mom. That family thread really grounds the comedy. Adam Sandler once again goes all in as Dracula, bringing the same wild and goofy energy that’s been consistent since the first film. His exaggerated voice work and zany antics never get old, and in this film, his story is tied up in themes of loneliness and unexpected love, which makes him more relatable than ever. The fact that Dracula finds himself falling for Ericka, the cruise ship captain (who also happens to be connected to his greatest enemy, Van Helsing), creates the perfect blend of humor and heart. Their back-and-forth romance is surprisingly charming, with plenty of laughs along the way. What makes this entry stand out is the vacation setting itself. Moving away from the hotel was a smart choice, giving the characters a new environment full of wild possibilities. The cruise ship, the Bermuda Triangle, the underwater volcano scenes — all of it is so vibrant and creative. It gives the animators room to really play, and visually it’s the most fun of the three films. Comedy-wise, this is probably the funniest Hotel Transylvania movie yet. The family dynamics are more exaggerated, the slapstick gags land harder, and the use of modern music and dance battles (yes, there’s a full-on EDM showdown with Van Helsing’s monster-destroying device) feels ridiculous in the best way possible. Kids will laugh nonstop, but adults will also catch themselves chuckling at the clever timing and over-the-top chaos. As for the series overall: • The first film was fresh and creative, setting up the world and characters. • The second film, in my opinion, got better, especially with the addition of Mavis and Johnny’s son and the generational humor. • But the third film might just be my favorite. It feels like the most balanced — funny, sweet, colorful, and surprisingly heartfelt. No, these characters aren’t the kind that you think of when naming your all-time favorite animated icons, but they don’t need to be. They’re fun, they’re lovable, and the world Genndy Tartakovsky has built is consistently creative. Overall, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is lighthearted, family-friendly fun with a lot of comical moments. It might not be groundbreaking, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s pure entertainment, and I’d definitely recommend it for both kids and adults looking for something silly, sweet, and joyful. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Comedy F Kinda liked it for the way it is but still not bad I know it's a summer vacation sort of movie but pretty terrible opening scene Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/22/25 Full Review Tyler S I think this was another very solid addition to the franchise. Pretty funny, and a solid story. Made a few decisions I wouldn't have, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Julieta M This movie is so bad and even the trailer shows some deleted scenes that are disturbing Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
