Only Uwe Boll would assume that the moviegoing public craved a trashy Lord of the Rings rip-off starring Burt Reynolds and Matthew Lillard, and only he could then manage to make such a potentially riotous endeavor so humorless.

Frankly, this is one of his better feats that’s still tastelessly crappy, while proceeding with absolute caution. Boll’s cheaply rejected vision for "Lord of the Rings" without an ounce of distinction for the creatively dissolved source material from frivolous performances – though rare few evoked chuckles adjacent to being laughably bad – and childish sequences unceremoniously presented. (C-)

In The Name of The King was released in 2008 and is a discount Dungeons and Dragons type film directed by the infamous Uwe Boll and starring Jason Statham playing Jason Statham, Ray Liotta as the bad guy, and Burt Reynolds playing Burt Reynolds. This is as straightforward a plot as it gets: Jason Statham's son is killed and he wants revenge against the Krugs (discount Orcs) and their leader Ray. So he ventures out in his quest and lots of terrible CGI battles happen, we hear some terrible dialogue, and Burt Reynolds phones in a few scenes for old times sake. Dungeon Siege is so bad it's almost, almost, good. Honestly there's no redeeming quality here as even the jokes don't land and this goes on for over two hours. This, this was just awful.

What the hell did I watch. The bad guys loaded an "orc" into a catapult and set him on fire to launch at the good guys. They missed and hit a tree. This is the stupidest movie ever. Watch only if you want to see the dumbest script ever written.

The ratings are correct maybe even too high. This is one of the worst movies ever made with the caliber of talented actors in it. Watching this will make you realize how well Lord of the Rings was made. It’s almost unwatchable. The best part was when the credits finally hit and never having to watch it again.

I appreciated the references to the Legend of Arthur, along with the startling reality of that time period, that death was an all too familiar occurrence. The blend of medieval history with fantasy kept my interest throughout.
