Audience Member Who knew German millennials preferred white American Chevrolets? Why did the psychotic friend suddenly become rationale? Oh, it was drug injections! And who was that old guy in the nice sweater who lived at the abandoned orphanage? Or the other older guy who does not age but has been with the two young girls since they were toddlers? Why is he now evil? And how about the protagonist's boyfriend? How is he even mixed up in this scheme at all? I was fully expecting cast members from the remarkable time-travel German series "Dark" to appear and take us to their bunker to explain everything. "Its two orphan girls who know how to time travel if they really focus on it." "Their friendship disturbed the time-space continuum." This, unfortunately, did not happen. Since we are in a worldwide pandemic, I appreciate all movie offerings, no matter how incoherent. This movie (in German, English subtitles - sometimes poorly written) took a lot of effort to be made, so for that reason I enjoyed it. That said, the story line was difficult to follow and the evil Captain Nemo-ish time-travel motivations, with folks popping in and out of existence only to hit confused gunmen with iron rods, based solely on adrenaline and "focus", is not a credit to German cinema in 2020. We live in an age where most of us have seen the Matrix films. This should be but one standard to remember next time a German time-travel-abandoned-orphanage-"trip-to-Thailand-to-clear-my-head" film is made. Nice beach scenes. But why did the Protagonist appear at the very end, with credits rolling, among two other time versions of herself? To warn of the impending drug injections? Who knows. I digress.
