Audience Member Moves too fast and with little coherence from one extreme to the other. In a certain moment, you don't feel it is realistic, and it makes it less interesting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Pinter could have contributed - perhaps he did? A play on words exchanged between two unlikely characters, an interplay of apparently mismatched characters, one th eperfectfake, the other the fall-guy we could identify with. Gripping dialogue with twisting plot. Lovely cinema. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the few instances where the American remake of a film is better than the foreign original. While the Dutch version isn't a bad movie at all -- both movies have the exact same plot -- the English version made four years later manages to rearrange a few minor plot points in the script to make a few "twists" that are not in the original. Even though all the information is there, it's laid out differently. Also, with so much reliance on dialogue, it was more difficult to pick up on the more subtle notes of the performances in the foreign film. There is *a lot* of talking, and I was simply too busy reading the subtitles to really appreciate the dynamics between the two characters, which was the best part of the English film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The first movie I saw directed by Theo van Gogh, the man who was assassinated in a street on broad daylight almost five years ago. This was an interesting film and van Gogh doesn't disguise the language used. A lot of philosophy, brooding about life, useless conversations and a great plot end, one that I liked very much. Definitely worth a watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Good acting. And pretty good storytelling too. The final scenes are not the most powerful scenes in the movie.
