Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) This must be crime thriller as borderline-surreal fantasy, but lacking in the verve to conjure any nightmarish aura capably. In fact, it's disastrously literal-minded. Rated: 2/5 Apr 22, 2021 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Times (UK) Carrisi's puzzle is overstuffed and overlong. And his pay-off is so baffling that even after 24 hours of diving down Google rabbit holes, I'm still not convinced it amounts to a heap of carrots. Rated: 2/5 Apr 19, 2021 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Frustratingly underpowered and derivative. Rated: 2/5 Apr 15, 2021 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall With a noir-style script and stylised visuals, the film catches the interest from the start. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 30, 2021 Full Review Katie Hogan FILMHOUNDS Magazine Overall, director Donato Carrisi creates an unsettling atmospheric environment, whether it's in the labyrinth, the hospital, a farmhouse or even a plain hospital room. Test T I watched this on DVD recently. I'm found it intese, scary, unsettling and confusing. I did not like the use of subtitles for the private investigator character, because it's awkward and unnecessary. The film is about an abducter who keeps people captive for years in underground tunnels. There appears to be two main story threads, but it is unclear to me exactly how they connect. I think the ending is supposed to reveal how it all fits together, but having watched the whole thing I am still confused. The film is well made in some ways, and does a good job of creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and unease. Sadly, it is not very good at explaining it, and for that reason I can't recommend it. It gives the impression that it is unfinished and leaves the viewer unsatisfied. There's also a load of references to rabbits which I just found really strange. If Dustin Hoffman had not been in it, I don't think I would have paid it any attention. I feel like I wasted my time watching it now. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Paul B Yet another "serial killer as a super genius who does totally impossible things" movie. This thing is filled with plot holes large enough to drive a monster truck through. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Dennis The movie seems somewhat Felliniesque as it walks a line between reality and fantasy. After attempting to define a context, I realized that it doesn't possess a coherent and cohesive narrative, and accordingly, is only loosely contextualized. It's long and hard to follow. I wasted two hours on this noir offering, then went to bed slightly upset and annoyed. In it's attempt to mimic Fellini, (to a certain degree anyway), this film falls short of being interesting or entertaining. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/23 Full Review Daniel G So intriguing and enigmatic that I think I'd have to watch it again to be assertive about what transpired. The movie-making and acting praiseworthy, though the movie was a bit too slow at times. Dustin Hoffman was a curious choice, but worked out in the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/23 Full Review jill c SUCH a major stinker. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As I was looking through the random Roku channels that I added several years ago when Roku 1st came out , deleting them one by one... I came across one that was still active & working called Popcorn Movies. I knew this wasn't the infamous PopcornTime site that undercuts the evil Disney/Big Biz so, I decided to look through their catalog and have a good laugh. I noticed their movies weren't bad ,they're mostly foreign movies so I dove in a little deeper. I found one with a TERRIBLE picture on the cover of Dustin Hoffman & when I saw it was made in 2019 in Italy , my curiosity made me hit the play icon. At first, it seemed like just some old timey movie (probably bcuz of the older cameras) but before I knew ut ...I was HOOKED !!! We all complain how Hollywood movies aren't original anymore & remakes of remakes have taken over the movie world....well, I'm here to tell you that this movie is a sight for sore eyes. This movie is fantastic !!! A gripping storyline, characters you actually can about, actors who can act without CGI & green screens, real life sets instead of green screens & phoney backgrounds & smart dialog that makes you love movies again. This is not a horror movie (imo) but, there will be blood so, this isn't something to watch with the kids. If you enjoy crime thrillers or just want to watch something other than carbon copied animated superhero nonsense & yearn for a compelling movie that captivates your mind for 2 hrs..then INTO THE LABYRINTH is the movie you've been waiting for. I don't care what the Rotten Tomatoes score says... This movie is awesome & made with a tiny $4 million dollar budget. This is something like "Silence Of The Lambs" meets "Saw 1" ..lol It's a terrific movie... ENJOY - ScottyRod Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
