Luis M. D I like the concept of the movie and the way that tension and mystery are initially introduced. But the plot soon goes a little stray and it leaves many things unanswered and many actions and motivations not fully explained. There are also some situations that appear illogical. So in the end we feel a bit frustrated by the lack of answers and that is certainly not good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Kalu L First thing, the english dub was horrible. Second, the plot lose its interesting side when you find out it was all the work of a kidnapper and abuser, nothing paranormal like it makes you think in the first half. Another movie with a plot already seen dozens of times. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Mortal Boring and unsatisfying! Do not watch unless you're scrolling through Instagram at the same time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Leonard E BORING. Too long could cut 30 minutes out of it. Super boring and not satisfying ending. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review Federico C Una pelicula muy larga, muy lenta y se hace aburrida. Una trama extraña que no se termina de entender mucho, y un final medio pelo sin mucha logica. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/26/23 Full Review Late R ‘The Chalk Line' has some good ideas, but the problem is they're cobbled together from other, much better films. It comes out the gate strong and fast with an intriguing start, but from there on out it only goes downhill as the various moving parts fail to come together in a coherent way. The mystery just isn't very well put together, not to mention a lack of focus on the backgrounds of the various characters which makes them hard to relate to. The eerie tone and promise of a clever twist can only get you so far, but in the end it's Elena Anaya's central performance (other accomplished actors are given little to do) that carries the entire thing to an ending that feels somewhat rushed and lacking in impact. Roger Moore Movie Nation Good gimmick...never a complete write-off, but there is no getting around that it isn’t what it could have been. Rated: 2/4 Nov 14, 2022 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) The Chalk Line delivers a powerful story of longing and hope, combined with a harrowing scenario that could be ripped from the headlines. Rated: 4.5/5 Oct 26, 2022 Full Review John Sooja Common Sense Media This disturbing drama is strongly acted, pieced together well, and thrilling to the end. However, a few small issues keep The Chalk Line from being great. Rated: 3/5 Oct 25, 2022 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut The Chalk Line had promise but ultimately succumbs to an uneven script and an ending that plays it too safe. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 25, 2022 Full Review Marshall Shaffer Decider The focus on vibes over storytelling starts to have diminishing returns once the plot starts having to explain the strangeness, and the thinly-developed characters are just not particularly persuasive. Oct 25, 2022 Full Review Randy Meeks Espinof Creates a mysterious atmosphere, sinister and paranoid-inducing, the script builds up the tension though perhaps doesn't sustain it enough through the end.
