While being transported via train to a carnival, a king cobra is let out of its box by Satan, and it kills two railroad workers. The snake flees into the night, under the influence of demonic powers. It eventually heads toward a small Alabama town, ready to strike in the name of evil. Meanwhile, the town's Roman Catholic priest, the Rev. Tom Farrow (Fritz Weaver), discovers that his ancestor was none other than St. Patrick, who drove the snakes from Ireland. Now, Farrow must do the same.

While the alternate title King Cobra is more direct, Jaws of Satan is more honest, since this often plays like a mentally challenged version of the Steven Spielberg smash. Go to Full Review

This one comes close to Spielberg's Jaws...alphabetically, that is. Go to Full Review

Ian S Dec 6 Drivel. maybe Fritz Weaver's worst movie. Nothing good about it except the end credits. See more 12/02/2018 Corny, cheesy and well.. some laughs though not that they were intended.. and the laws of moviemaking were not obayed.. entertaining at least See more 05/21/2017 Exorcist meets Jaws with dismal results. still, you would be a fool to watch this kinda thing with anything but the lowest results. The charming Sheriff steals the show, which really isn't that hard to do all things considered. the pre CGI snake should have won an Oscar at the very least. See more 05/08/2017 Well that was quite the different take on the killer animal genre. I enjoyed it. See more 01/18/2017 The whole film competently rips offs Jaws in cheesy b movie tradition but the ending is really weak. See more 06/23/2016 If you crossed "End of Days" with "Snakes on a Plane" and filmed it in the 1970s, you'd get "Jaws of Satan." Fritz Weaver plays a small-town priest who's ancestors killed off a druid cult. Those druids cursed his family and the devil, in the form of a king cobra, returns to the small town off of a circus train to exact his revenge. That revenge comes by way of the demonic snake controlling all of the other local snakes, who then attack the small parish community members. And all this is happening just as a new local dog racing track is about to open! As you may have surmised, this film is ridiculous. It's part nature-gone-wild and part Satanic-panic, but overall, it's just a terrible film, although the film is just bad enough that it can be enjoyed on an ironic so-bad-it's-good level. Gretchen Corbett of "The Rockford Files" and Norman Lloyd were the only actors I recognized. I didn't realize it until I looked at IMDB, but his film also featured a 7-year-old Christina Applegate in her film debut. Only watch this film if you're a die hard Applegate fan or if you're in the mood for cheesy Satanic snake attacks. See more Read all reviews
