Hoyt Hilsman Variety Missing is the tongue-in-cheek spirit of fun that made adventure romps like Raiders of the Lost Ark a treat. Feb 5, 2018 Full Review Mark R. Leeper rec.arts.movies.reviews Journey to the Center of the Earth (1993) has no connection to the story by Jules Verne, as I am sure the spirit of Verne would want to impress on each and every one of us. Audience Member Reminiscing about old TV shows I watched when I was in school in the 90's I recalled a Journey to the Center of the Earth-ish one. A little research later and I was in front of the television armed with a bowl of popcorn ready to relive my childhood adventures. Twenty minutes later I was wondering if my parents only allowed me to watch one movie a year, is that why I enjoyed this film? The acting was horrible, the story line blah, effects weren't bad for a 70's film but this was done in the 90's. I decided to continue the trek (i.e. I still had snacks). There was a yeti, an actual yeti, at the center of the earth. Somehow a writer of this show thought it would be a good idea to take a mythical monster renowned for its alpine prowess and place it at the center of the earth. Oh and they called it 'Dallas'... Would not recommend. The modern day setting doesn't work, the acting is poor and the special effects are surprisingly awful. Bad score, bad everything. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The cast listed for this movie and the title matches a made for TV movie made in 1993 and has nothing to do with the Discovery Channel series of the same name. As for the movie - bad adaptation, acting, effects, ect ... one plot point really bothered me (well - one more than some others). The "bad guy" was obviously the guys Uncle who made the journey 10 years earlier - so why did he make a statement that he had been trapped there for 3 millenia??? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This wasn't a discovery channel tv movie, i dont believe? It was such a terrible tv movie with a horrid script which wouldn't even have a chance at getting funding from Discovery. So i must respectfully disagree with flixter's synopsis. And if i may be wrong, then GOD have mercy on the sin discovery may have commited. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
