Most of this is built around the same low-hanging, moldy observations your uncle had last Thanksgiving, but it's elevated ever so slightly by the occasional, more physical bits of James' set.

Amusing, fast, inoffensive -- for the most part.

I certainly don't think you shouldn't make a special just because it's been seventeen years since you've done that. But if it feels like your special could have been released during any one of those interim years, that might be an issue.

Overall, the special is mostly benign, flaccid comedy that probably would have felt a little more at home in 1995.

Kevin James is charming and there are notable funny moments but Never Don't Give Up just felt relatively tedious for me and preferred to play it safe. I'm not saying cursing all the time equals comedy gold but this special plays it safe in comparison to other standup comedy specials I've seen.

Had Me Laughing For 60-70% Of His Stories & Anicdotal Complaint Styled Humor..Somewhat Like Seinfeld, But Not As Clever With The Shifted Thinking / A Different Point Of View. Some Of The Fat-Shaming Stuff Was A Bit Medicore Too..But All In All, It Was Better Than Some Other Stand-Up That Is Out There.

You know what...I watched this because my husband turned it on. I had my mind set that I wasn't gonna like it so I was not laughing until I couldn't help it cause he was just really so funny. You have to relax and watch. You will really be laughing through the whole thing whether you want to or not. Good comedy. And I can't believe it's family friendly. Most comedians can't pull off funny AND family friendly. I watched it with my 16 year old daughter and she was laughing a lot too. :)

I watch a lot of standup. This special was the cringeworthy comedy of 78 year old man who's only gift left in life is to bitch and moan. I struggled to stay engaged and actually felt kinda bad for Netflix who clearly got taken for a ride by a comic who has forgotten how to be funny.
