Audience Member Better than most Swedish movies. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member It´s the early 60´s and Erik will spend his summer holidays together with his friend Edmund and his brother Henry (Jonas Karlsson) in the family summer house close to a lake called Genesaret. While Erik and Edmund just wanna have a great summer vaction, Henry is planning to write a novel and contemplating over life. Suddenly one day, Eva Kaludis (Helena af Sandeberg), a former substitute teacher for Erik and Edmund, emerges at the house to visit Henry. She is engaged with a rough local, Berra Albertsson, and it´s known that he is not treating her in a nice way. Eva´s and Henry´s relationship ends up with a fatal result. But, what did actually happen? Based on the swedish writer Håkan Nesser´s novel, this is a mere footnote cinematicly. I reckon the story is just not that strong and the direction of the movie doesn´t bring out that feeling of crime drama you would like to experience. Where´s the suspense? It´s kind of flat and uninspiring. I do like both Jonas Karlsson and Helena af Sandeberg. They are always good. But, "Kim Novak Never Swam in Genesaret's Lake" makes you wish for a lot more than just Karlsson´s and Sandebergs´s efforts. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Deutscher Titel: Kim Novak badete nie im See von Genezareth Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Älskar Jonas Karlsson! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Charming Swedish movie set in the 60ies. Summer in the countryside, two teenage boys, best friends and one's elder brother. A murder happens. But no, this is not a thriller. Worse of it all is that the end is totally unsatisfactory to me. Because of that end I can not rate it higher and I wouldn't recommend it either. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Wasn't quite how I'd expected it to be. It was great acting but the movie could've been so much better than what it actually was. It was a bit too slow and it was a bit too short for the genre. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
