markus m An expertly made film but with a script so subtle that it never quite goes for the jugular and gives the kind of emotional payoff that this viewer would've liked and expected. 6,5/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the better Finnish films and probably Markku Pölönen's strongest work yet. A story about mentally handicapped man trying to make his living in the world is nothing new, but Pölönen made it work in this film that's full of excellent actor performances, atmospheric scenery and heart-warming life lessons. I especially enjoyed Taisto Reimaluoto's Eetvi, who is a true saint among men. He's not perfect, he has his own problems and flaws, but he has one of the strongest moral codes I've ever seen in cinema. Peter Franzén's role performance was also stunning to watch. But, the movie was a bit boring from time to time and while the slow pacing kind of worked, you were left expecting a bit more. Not to say that every movie needs to be action-packed or constantly thrilling, but the movie just kind of ends without any final summarization or end note. It kind of works, but it also kind of doesn't. All in all a very good mood film with excellent production values. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Niitä elokuvia, joita jokaisen tulisi katsoa aika ajoin. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Peter Franzénin Mertsi on päähän haavoittunut sotainvalidi, jonka pärjääminen on kiinni lähinnä ihmisten hyväntahtoisuudesta. Koirankynnen leikkaaja käy hyvin talvisen savottatyön kuvauksena, sillä sitä esitetään paljon. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Aivan mieletön suoritus Peter Franzénilta Mertsin roolissa. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
