Tyler Doupe Dread Central ‘Latency’ is slow, unduly melodramatic, and the characters are bland as can be. Rated: 2/5 Aug 6, 2025 Full Review Bethany Lola Loud and Clear Reviews Latency manages to succeed in creating a daunting thriller, which is not only enjoyable but unpredictable. If you’re looking for something intense but not too scary, Latency is the ideal watch. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 4, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Latency takes a potentially solid idea for a thriller (a virtual reality gamer begins to lose her sanity) and makes it an incoherent, boring mess. It's hard to take this psychological movie seriously when it's so stupid. The acting is also horrendous. Jul 21, 2024 Full Review Bee Delores B-Sides & Badlands While the style and tone evoke real vision, the film arrives as lifeless and cold. Rated: 2/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The film is decent, but it’s missing something, it straddles the line between good and bland and the uncut or R-rated cut may very well fix this, but who knows if we’ll ever see it. Rated: 3/5 Jun 19, 2024 Full Review Ayeen Forootan In Review Online Latency, if not entirely original in style or flawless in its crowd-pleasing, is an imaginative, trippy, and modest indie that resists aesthetic overindulgence or perplexing rhetorical angles. kunu Latency was memorable and unique. I really enjoyed the visual fx and the sound effects work and the lead actress really carried the film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review J D I changed my Google review from 3 to 4 initially, and then to 5 after going to bed, waking up and looking up the meaning of agoraphobia The reviews on rotten 🍅 are even worse and more off point, they very confidently assume meaning, label the character's behavior self destructive or the creator's vision unintentional "I didn't know it was a horror movie when i put it on. The more I think about it the more I like it but I think I found the characters likeable which may be part why, I'm not sure This would be a psychological thriller maybe I'd call it techno/psychological horror It starts off relatable (the whole thing is drenched in realism) and then gets very distressing (I'd say scary) and sad. Like most films, you may feel compelled to rationalize what the character is experiencing/ you're witnessing Feel like I need to spend some time with my mom now and I'm sure there's people who watched it who can't do that I think people who find it incoherent just don't get it and don't think it's as dumb (according to viewers) as a lot of other movies, just fearful" This movie inspired me to create a rotten tomatoes account and is my 2nd review ever. Edit: A critic said indie/experimental and I think those are good perspectives as well. The creators didn't disclose budget, which is great and fine. I think it's ambiguity was considerately done Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/25 Full Review babarizam D Movie didn't make any sense. I think directer was trying to make something but it was lost in between Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Kyle M Self-destructive concept intangibly told then null-voided, with messages to get out more and don’t frolic with advancing technology too much. (C-) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review US Windows & B Quite possibly the worst movie ever made, not at all what the trailer showed, an hour and a half i can never get back. So confusing not worth the watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Cougar F Honestly I don't understand why the low grade for this movie. I've been a gamer all of my life and battled with depression and anxiety myself at times. The plot could have been a bit more chained and at times you can't really tell if she's experiencing reality or just what the device shows her, but it gets the job done and it lets you decide and think for yourself and I think that's the point. Personally I think the score is way to low and the movie is underrated. For its budget and limited sets, it really puts a good vibe to it and you feel the thrill at times. The two girls were very good and their relationship dynamic was awesome. Good movie from my point of view, worth checking out, and leave the other bad reviews to other people, check it out for yourself and make up your own mind.
