Judith K Worth watching if you are a fan of French movies. It's a coming of age movie about a famous French director, Marcel Pagnol, set in the Provence hills outside of Marseille. This is where Marcel spent his summers. The location was clearly a part of his soul, since his movies were often located in the same general area. Rated 3.5/5 Stars •  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Aileen D This a charming film. A mémoire of Marcel Pagnol’s childhood in Provence. You could say it’s a remake of two earlier films. All are very good. It captures the dry limestone hills of Provence with its abundant life of insects, birds, and animals enjoyed by a young Marcel with his family on summer holidays. It expresses the French love of “le nature” - an idealized one that is nevertheless soothing to watch as this young boy explores the countryside with Lili, a stalwart companion skilled at the ways of the countryside, and when Marcel meets his first love.
