Audience Member So...the movie is not as great as it appears to be. Pros: It is visually entertaining, has comedic elements to it, there are pretty girls, a good looking guy (Aaron Kwok, although some may see Deric Wan as good looking too), has a lot of action, and is an alright movie to watch if you think nothing of it. Cons (w/out spoilers): Bad English subs/translation (though for people who often watch Kung Fu movies it is commonly encountered) and the "funny" can get old. Skip the next section if you don't want spoilers. Cons (SPOILERS HERE): There is no liquid sword. There is a "sacred liquid technique" in which the person fires out water from their fingertips and explodes everything, but no sword here. Maybe it is more of a liquid rocket launcher? It also seems a little silly that the main villain is named Batman (O_o) and he later kind of turns into a vampire (I feel this was the director's way of re-enforcing the bat reference but still it seems unnecessary). Did I mention the "sacred water" can explode people? Not your typical guts and blood explosion, but a bomb or car explosion with fire and smoke everywhere, maybe even some metal debris. Finally, the ending which took most of the points out of this rating: the final battle between the good guy and bad guy was short and bland. While watching the movie, the fighting scenes were descent and again visually entertaining. So you'd think the ending would be this giant, action-packed fight. Nope. The good guy sprayed sacred water onto Batman and he exploded. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member very neat movie needs repeat viewings to catch all the action which is amazing Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A non-sense film by just taking out the characters from Gu Long's novel about ancient swordsmen. The story has nothing to do with the original novel at all. I watched it all because of my favorite HK actress in the 1990s- Sharla Cheung (on the DVD cover, as Jellyfish) was in it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A different movie! A quick review cannot do this movie justice, has to be seen to be believed. Gordon Liu makes a cameo.
