Audience Member it's very hard to keep morale up when it's clear the war is swinging in the other direction, which is exactly what letters is trying to portray. with sporadic scenes of action, letters focuses more on the soldiers' efforts to find reasons for fighting a losing war. not a typical run-and-gun war movie, but one which explores the depths of the fighting men and their will to fight.
