For Capt. Robert John Evans (Ray Milland), smuggling black-market goods is nothing out of the ordinary. But one day he's hired by Aristides Mavros (Claude Rains) for a more involved assignment -- sneaking an imprisoned American out of communist-controlled territory. The job seems challenging enough, but when he meets the prisoner's sultry wife, Sylvia (Maureen O'Hara), he realizes his mission comes with a startling catch: Not only must he rescue this man, he must bring him back from the dead.

Raquel Stecher Out of the Past Story-wise, Lisbon was kind of a disappointment. It took too long to get to the point... Dec 24, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Steve D Lumbering thriller with few thrills. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/24 Full Review Audience Member A very dull tale of deceit and betrayal surrounding a smuggler. Given the cast involved this should be a lot better than it is. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member well umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...i think that ray milland, maureen o hara, claude rains, yvonne furneaux, francis lederer, percy marmont play good roles/parts throughout this movie....i think that the director of this thriller/drama/classics movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie....i think this is a good movie 2 watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Ray Milland's directorial debut and a pretty slow-moving affair it is too with Milland himself in a battle of wits against debonair smuggler Claude Rains. Luckily the two gorgeous female leads (O'Hara and Furneaux) make up for the lack of action. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
