Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …a fairly typical example of the Roger Corman ethos in action…both sections of the film are well-done, even if there’s not much connection in terms of story or theme… Rated: 3/5 May 12, 2024 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Despite the regular violence, the scaly creature costumes (which are rather comical when revealed in broad daylight), the mad scientist, and the otherworldly voodoo, the film isn’t creative enough to hold much interest. Rated: 3/10 Aug 9, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy I can't vouch for the edited U.S. version known as Screamers, but the Italian original Island of the Fishmen is low-rent fun. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 5, 2022 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Genre addicts might feel a little let down by the picture's eventual restraint, but what the feature lacks in sustained aggression, it makes up for in tolerable escapism. Audience Member The shift in insert footage between the different cuts can be a bit jarring, if you're looking for it. But otherwise it's a pretty fun, schlocky Gilman throwback. Fishmen forever! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/19/19 Full Review Audience Member This movie feels like a low-budget adaptation of a generic 19h century naturalist adventure novel. The fishmen's roar is part lion, part elephant. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The US version (Screamers) with the badass added gory footage at the beginning is a must view for this mad scientist adventure film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Could tell right from the opening credits this one would be good. Shipwrecked doctor washes up on island run by man who has discovered the lost underwater city of Atlantis and uses a renowned biologist who turned island inhabitants into aquatic creatures to retrieve the city's treasure for him. Fascinating tale. One had to feel for Jose, who was killed in the midst of making the transformation into a marine servant. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A passable waste of time and a twist you actually won't see coming. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A crazed scientist transforms shipwrecked prisoners into subhuman sea creatures in the hopes of using them to retrieve the lost underwater treasure of the City of Atlantis. Effective (and a bit outlandish) Italian thriller with an additional opening scene added for the US video release featuring none other than Cameron Mitchell!
