geoff a Embarrassingly amateurish on pretty much all fronts. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review the s Oh, boy. Here we go again. These ambitious "filmmakers" who want their work listed alongside the classics and the greats on Amazon Prime. This movie suffers from several major angles at once. It's not so much as narrative film as it is a series of vignettes and sporadic dialogue. The edits and cuts are horrendous. Not artistic, not unique, not dramatic: just horrendous. The acting is so poor that you almost get the feeling it was cast by whoever gave the most money to help get it made (think friends and family). The male/female couple isn't just unlikely, it is downright implausible. Amid the mess of editing, there are some moments of interesting imagery. The accompanying music twists from classic to generic rave-like beat driven music. Not really the way you want to create a haunting type of atmosphere. In the end, you may decide that it feels like a vehicle for someone who wanted to showcase their girlfriend or wife. (The dark haired woman) because there's no substance of note, nothing of interest, no real talent or genuine message here, unfortunately. If you gave some college film students a few thousand dollars and an old English manor as a set, they could come up with something much better I'm afraid. If the goal was to create something scary, it didn't work. If the goal was to create a mess of disjointed imagery and a train wreck of edits, cuts and transitions...well done. Ultimately it's one of those tutors that is mixed in with legitimate, genuinely scary movies that you have to wade through in order to get to the movies created by people with some talent and some kind of vision. Unfortunately this has neither but it's packed in between some of the classics at Amazon. Unfortunate for me to fall under them impression that it might be good; unfortunate for the filmmaker to be placed alongside movies that are actually watchable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Uneven acting, inaccurate demonology, spotty plot, bad editing and cinematography. The best actor is the owl. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/20 Full Review Audience Member What a strange film, constantly shifting between art piece, mystery thriller, and supernatural horror. As an art piece, it is well done, telling a story and striking emotion. As a mystery thriller, it's a little predictable but still has some nice twists. The supernatural horror aspect, however, is somewhat lacking; the good sequences are great but they are so far between and countered by some bad scenes. I hate to say that part of the problem with this movie is a main character (and her actor). Alexandra Hulme overacted almost all of her scenes, to the point it felt like community theater. Worse, the director seemed obsessed with her, inserting long sequences of her dancing to incongruent music. If they had just limited her role and edited out those scenes, I think things would have flowed so much better. If you go into this movie, expect an indie, artsy approach. Otherwise, you might sorely be disappointed (and confused). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely superb independant Horror Movie. If you like your horror with heart, soul and genuinely unsettling moments then look no further. I'd like to add that I watched this the same day that I tried to watch 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets'. I couldn't finish Valerian while 'Lord of Tears' is easily my favourite horror of the past few years (up there with 'The VVitch', 'A Field in England' and 'The Ritual'. So yes, basically I'm saying that based on current form Lawrie Brewster is better than Luc Besson. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a jarring, pretentious journey that wastes a premise with so much potential on a protagonist that exhibits the same personality traits as a paralytic and a villain who's unnerving quality is squandered by editing that's about as stale as the NHS' dessert menu.
