Pam C Great American movie the lost world nearby McDonald’s! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Michael C The most notable highlight of "The Lost World" is its cast. This 1960 science fiction film does have some other positive aspects. The production design is very good as well. The movie as a whole is just OK. That's all. I was never bored with the movie, I just was not all that intrigued by it. As I said, the best thing about the movie is its cast. The late Claude Rains is very good as Professor George Edward Challenger, the leader of the expedition to the mysterious forbidden world where dinosaurs still survive. Being a fan of the James Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever", I did like seeing Jill St. John in the movie. Her character is really just there for show as she contributes nothing to the story or the plot, but she does a good job in her respective role. Also being a fan of the original version of "The Fly" (The 1986 remake is awesome too!), the late David Hedison is a nice addition to the cast too. He also plays his respective part well. There are a few liabilities. Specifically the formulaic plot devices. Nobody believes Professor Challenger and thinks he is delusional until.... The tribesmen indigenous to The Lost World are a little too goofy for me to take seriously. With that being said, "The Lost World: is not a bad movie at all, but I think it could have been better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Ted B 1.5 stars; Basically, a TV movie with cheap special effects. I realize the effects were based on a low budget and were a product of the times, but my empathy for their situation still does not make the film easy to watch. As for the acting, it was at a TV movie level, as you would expect. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Dallas H The movie is a technical product of its time: the sets, the special effects, the sock puppet lava dragon, the cavewoman who looks like a '60s swimsuit model, and so on. But I generally liked it and would find it difficult to say I hated it even an ounce more than that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review mosk666 Just finished watching this ultra kitschy (and pretty awful) version of The Lost World. It's never a good sign when you see real iguanas, alligators and monitor lizards with all sorts of stupid horns attached to them to pretend to be dinosaurs! The acting and dialogue was ridiculous at times. The native girl (Vitina Marcus) was the best part of the film! The guy playing guitar throughout the film was only "playing" a 4 string guitar! When you look closely you see that the guitar doesn't have any strings on it and the sound he is supposedly making is clearly from a 6 string classical guitar that was done in a recording studio. You should get drunk and/or high before you watch it so it might attain 2 stars instead of 1! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Steve D Just pure cheese at this point.
