Steve D cheap as can be and nothing new. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Brian S Boring I had trouble paying attention found myself playing Solitaire right away. I'm so glad I only paid three dollars to watch this movie Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/22 Full Review Audience Member In the wake of Scream, nearly every meta slasher wanted to have something to do with urban legends. This one is about The Hook and take great pains to show us how the original story happened, how a cop got cucked and how a man was blamed for the crimes. Years later, when the kids are all grown up, The Hook comes back and starts slashing his way through all of them. They don't need much help, because one of them, Chloe, gets so upset about getting dumped that she tries to drown her boyfriend in front of the entire school. Look, when I was a kid I had seen so many of these movies that I pretty much was afraid of ever going to a lover's lane. I mean, it happened, but nearly every time, the cops were the ones that busted us. By some strange coincidence, the two times that happened I was fully clothed and my date was nude and, well, one of those times was in the parking lot for a school for mentally challenged kids and the cop pulled me out of the back seat and walked me around the side and with a tear in his eye said, "I just feel bad for these kids that they can't do anything and here you are fornicating." I was not killed with a hook. Anyways, Anna Farris made her debut in this movie, which I figure she leaves off her credits. Richard Sanders, who was Les Nessman, plays a therapist. And this was shot in Seattle, which is not a place that I can think of that has had many slashers. It was supposed to be filmed at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, but because there had already been a triple murder at the high school, they backed out. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is also titled "I'm still waiting for you" but, waiting for who? I prefer the title Lovers Lane because it's more fitting, works better, and makes more sense. But anyway, onto the film. It's bad but not AS bad as a lot of people say it is. The biggest complaint I had is that NOTHING in this damn movie made much sense at all. So, Michael and Mindy, our main characters are related? Mindy's mother was cheating on her dad with Michael's father so...They're related? Also, the abandoned house the characters are hiding from the killer is for some reason still perfectly intact? What?! Make more sense please! There are a few more, most of it has to do with the plot twist, but I'm not gonna spoil that. Now, I will give it credit for not being a blatant ripoff of Scream and Urban Legend, at least it comes up with some differences and doesn't just steal from those films from top to bottom, unlike quite a few films of this type. Just saying. I'll also give it credit for having an atmosphere, I'd say only about 20% but I guess that's something. It also has some decent comic relief in there, and some decent kills and the killer looks creepy, but everything else is kind of downhill from there. The acting? Not too shabby, but could've been way better. Just saying. This movie had so much potential to be a decent slasher film from the 90s era, but it wasted half of that potential, and that half of potential that it completely wasted really could've saved this film by a long shot. But, we got a disappointment instead and that really brought this movie down. Could've been a good ol' campy 90s urban legend-type slasher, but most of the potential that could've made it be that was completely thrown out the window and we got a disappointing film which is kind of upsetting since this film had potential. It really did. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Open on a couple screwing in a car in "Lover's Lane." Queue unoriginal slasher with a hook for a hand. Enter local police officer with young daughter to discover that Mommy was eviscerated while cheating on daddy...in a car...like a high school teenager...This opening pretty much sums up Lover's Lane, a thoroughly predictable and stupid--if somewhat funny and entertaining--slasher film that rolls out all the old tired cliches and, as its one bit of historical interest, features Anna Faris in a minor early roll as cheerleader who holds her arms across her chest a lot. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is fucking excellent. Nice twist at the end,I dont see how anybody could rag this movie,it was excellent.
