Audience Member It's 3am, I'm tired and I just watched something that is typically Japanese, a Manga film. So I'm a little confused to boot. This is a bit of a toughie as I'm not a massive Anime fan which puts me a little on the fence about this one. It's got nudity (though not as much as the Director's Cut apparently), it's got an AI robot mouse that can turn into a gun or some clothes or a broach - I'm not even making this up... All I can say is that Mardock Scramble: The First Compression is, aside from just an hours runtime, about a fifteen year old prostitute who's tortured by her past and now is looking for revenge on the man who tried to kill her. That is after she is brought back to life with some kind of cyber augmentations. At least, that's what I think they were, I wasn't quite clear on the MASSIVE exposition dump from the doctor who revived her. Suffice it to say this didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I understood the characters dark background concerning her father's sexual abuse of the girl, but how this factored into the main plot, I can't say, except she's obviously a tortured soul... like so many Anime heroes/heroines before. Not much else to really add to this. The artwork and loof of the film is pretty to look at and the English dub acting is pretty good for the most part. It's just such a scattered plot with a massive bloody shoot-out at the end with some very weird characters - there's a fat guy covered in boobs speaking in a voice like Edith "A handbaaaag?" Evans - and a cliffhanger ending (waiting for the Second Compression, I guess) that left me a little unfulfilled. But there's a sequel so, watch this space for the next one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Este anime relata una increíble pero profunda historia futurista donde la humanidad tiene la tecnología suficiente para revivir a alguien, no sin antes tener que pelear legalmente por una nueva oportunidad para vivir, muy recomendable para los fanáticos del anime (excluyo a muchisimos) cyberpunk (casi nadie) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an amazing anime, right up there alongside Ghost in the shell and Akira. With it being the first of a trilogy it ends on a massive cliff hanger. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Violent et dure en étant spéctaculairement bien réalisé. Mais en même temps, rien de bien nouveau sous le soleil ... Divertissant pour fan d'anime cyber :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I want to see more. When ca I get it. This is what anime needs righ now, more features. But please release the other ones post haste. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The visuals and setting is what kept me hooked. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
