      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Lacking the freshness of the first movie, MIB 2 recycles elements from its predecessor with mixed results.

David Ansen Newsweek There are just enough fresh, funny gags and witty throwaways to keep the 88-minute "MIB2" percolating. Mar 8, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Crazy creatures, some scares, and loads of fun. Rated: 4/5 Dec 26, 2010 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader The down-home satire of how we cope with cultural difference has evaporated, replaced by jazzy effects that wear out their welcome by the halfway mark. Apr 18, 2007 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Represents a long-established trend in Hollywood where franchises resolve to Xerox the first entry. Rated: 0.5/4 Oct 19, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Odd grotesqueries that seem ill-fitted for a comical adventure compose much of the character designs, weakening the impact of events and the likeliness of being memorable. Rated: 4/10 Nov 7, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens And film afficionados everywhere will not be lost on some inside jokes and cameos- the funniest of which revolves around some cheesy special effects with wires and tin foil which has Agent Jay commenting that it 'looks like Spielberg's work'. Ethan G "MIBII" is still as creative and stylistic as its predecessor, despite some familiar themes and predictable plot points. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Conrad C Just as wacky as the first, and Will Smith's character still feels fresh, but it was a little early to pull Tommy Lee Jones out of retirement, and the very promising Linda Fiorentino is very notably absent in this outing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Elijah B They should've stopped here Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/23 Full Review Michael G It had some amusing cameos and some funny situations but might have worked better as a comic book. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Ash P As a kid, I loved this movie. Today now that I'm older and a little more wiser... it's just your average bad. There are worst sequels out there but as this movie goes, an average bad with it's retcon choice, half of it's recycled story and some things that weren't explained. Hell, poor Patrick Warburton and Rosario Dawson for not being treated right, too. Some gadgets, new aliens, weapons what kept this movie going as some new ideas were added. Does it mean I hate this movie? Not really. It's just passible as my younger self would tell me and I will uphold it much as it's just your average bad. A guilty pleasure, if I have to be honest to myself. If you're a fan or even grew up with it, I'd say give this watch or feel free to watch as much as ya like if you did grew up with this. 6/10. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review James E Not as good as the first, but close. I don't understand all the hate and poor reviews, it's almost as funny and charming as the first. A few bad jokes and weird moments, but overall, a good time Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
