Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies A humdrum installment in the 50s version of DIY space travel that ignores science and reality. Rated: 1/4 Mar 23, 2024 Full Review David Maine PopMatters Rock monsters, moon girls and spiders, oh my! Unexpected twists enliven this truly fantastic voyage: settle in for a hilarious good time. Rated: 7/10 Jul 15, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid The sad truth is that most bad sci-fi movies mainly feature people sitting around in rooms and talking; they're more boring than they are amusing. Audience Member If APOLLO 13 taught us anything, it's that trips to the moon are always dangerous (even more so when they're not missions but missiles), but who knew that the real threat isn't a lack of oxygen, but giant spiders and rock people shaped like Gumby? Cannonical scale: 4/5 — Like Fred Willard, I too thought there would be less crabgrass on the moon. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Even cheaper remake of cheapie Cat Women of the Moon with shades of She added in. Dull, occ. laughable: the spider monster on Gilligan's Island was more effective. Despite the general ineptness, the rock creatures aren't too bad and there is a rather effectively done (and surprisingly grisly ) death scene of one of the protagonists. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The FX are cheesy and the action is as slow as molasses, but this is fun in a campy sort of way. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Missile to the Moon is one of those really awful sci-fi movies from the the late 1950's that did absolutely nothing for the genre or filmmaking in general, but felt more like a clone of other movies like it. There was a lot of that at the time, and movie studios were, and still are, always eager to capitalize on an idea and milk it to death. I wouldn't say this movie is the apex of that, but it's certainly among the top contenders. We're lead from one boring scene to the next using little more than dialogue to get us there, and oh boy what bad dialogue it is. Even the special effects are terrible, including the giant fake spider that looks like it was put together by a few eight year olds for a school play. In other words, there's not much to say about the movie that's positive. The crew at Rifftrax do their best to try and make it entertaining, but it's not easy. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A tad boring, and highly inaccurate now, but it has interesting moments and characters. Decent ending and the spider is rather laughing but neat. I would recommend with Rifftrax. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Escaped cons Hall & Oates join a hard-headed scientist on a rocket trip to the set of Lawrence Welk, circa 1959. The atmosphere here is that of a mid-century auto-industry trade show featuring girls with sturdy pelvic girdles, foam rubber mascots and safe n' sane pyrotechnics.
