Peter W Overall, if you are in the mood for a classic Australian slasher, look no further. However, I can't deny this was disappointing for me.  For some, it will be disappointing but still highly enjoyable for the wrong reasons, aka it's so bad it's good. Nightmares is cheesy, bloody, poorly acted and has bad edits and cuts that almost feel like some scenes have just been put together ever so randomly. It's certainly a solid effort for an Australian film from the '80s, but sadly, this is one of the rare Ozploitation Classics that doesn't have me screaming high praises. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A good amount of gore and a lot more nudity and sex than you'd expect from a mainstream film. The ending was good in theory, but not executed as well as it could have been. Pretty good overall, but its hurt by the fact that there's no mystery as to who the killer is, lack of creativity in the kills and zero tension in the film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member It wasn't awful but it wasn't good either. Nightmares did deliver on the nude scenes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the dumbest slasher movies I have ever seen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Forgotten horror gem, Nightmares aka Stage Fright is a fun, entertaining little flick from down under. I really enjoyed this tense chiller, and it is a film that is well acted, and it boasts the right amount of thrills, mixed with good storytelling. I found this film to be underrated, and it deserved much more praise that it has received. Sure, it's a film that lacks at times, but overall, it's a pleasant forgotten gem for genre fans. The story is good, and there are effective moments that really elevate the film in terms of a cult picture. For viewers that enjoy a good horror tale, Nightmares is a pleasant film to watch, but at times you see that the film should have been improved upon in some areas. This is an entertaining picture worth seeing and it's a forgotten genre film worth rediscovering. There are aspects of the film that don't stand out, but there are enough effective moments to make this a good film for horror enthusiasts. The genre of ozploitation has had plenty of memorable pictures that have been made, and this one is one of the more underrated ones that I have seen. The film is far from perfect, but it manages to keep you entertained from start to finish. For a forgotten gem of Australian cinema, Nightmares is a fun picture that is a thrilling, worthwhile film if you enjoy this genre. Aussie horror films are very good and they display a certain character that isn't found in any other horror film. With Nightmares we get that vibe and it is a flawed, but nonetheless good film worth seeing if you enjoy a good roller coaster ride of terror. This is one of those films that is better than expected. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member No curtain call for this on-stage production of a 'comedy about death'. Several cast members and crew are slashed away during the play's opening few days. Not to be confused with the Alfred Hitchcock thriller of the same title.
