Bob Thomas Associated Press The Nude Bomb is an uneven spy spoof that combines clever dialogue with unfunny chases and pointless fistfights. Jul 17, 2019 Full Review Thomas Sabulis Boston Globe The rebirth of the bumbling Mr. Smart must have come as good news to all his fans who have been watching reruns of Get Smart for the last 10 years. But the full-length movie version known as "The Nude Bomb" will disappoint them. Apr 28, 2018 Full Review Time Out 'From a character conceived by Mel Brooks', reads the blurb, and there are various nods to his style of humour throughout this bitty spoof. But the rest relies more on technology than style, and on mediocre effects that can't carry the plot. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Caffeinated Clint Moviehole It ain't get "Get Smart", but it's great to see Adams back with the shoephone! Rated: 3/5 Aug 17, 2008 Full Review Chuck O'Leary FulvueDrive-in.com Mildly amusing early on when it sticks to puns and one-liners, but falls apart quickly as it degenerates into a series of dumb comic action sequences. Easier to sit through when I was 8. Rated: 4/10 Jun 21, 2008 Full Review TV Guide This feeble attempt to revive the characters from the popular TV series Get Smart copies the show, but without the sharp humor that made it so popular. StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 35 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/23 Full Review christopher c. m As much as I love this movie I wish they went full R, grant you it was 80s PG which has a ton more rope than modern PG. Which can't even say Damn or Hell. But full R would mean more than the very brief nudity and that was mostly men's rears. But two more things bugged me. What happened to CONTRL? And Agent 99? They were married in the series with twins. You can say they were divorced because Barbara Feldon wasn't available but not even a name drop was kind of disrespectful. I can see why Don Addams didn't like doing this one. Lastly in the bad part, later in the film there's an odd editing error. But even not having 99, I can't hate this movie. And even though Don was not enjoying himself, you can't tell it by his acting. He still brings his A game. And while the series spoofed the Sean Connery Bond films. This movie spoofs the crazier over the top Roger Moore Bond movies. A flawed but underrated classic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The original plan was to create a made-for-TV special, but fan response made the producers create a theatrical movie instead. As the "Get Smart" TV show was a spoof of James Bond movies, the movie was a parody of the then-recent Bond movies starring Roger Moore, as indicated by the plane-jump sequence at the beginning and Agent 86 having love interests other than Agent 99, despite the fact that in the TV show he had already married 99 and had twin children. So we end up with a mixture of both worlds where Maxwell Smart looks like a fish out of water. Without Agent 99 or the Edward Platt Chief (admittedly the actor had died so that was impossible), the comedic interaction that made Get Smart work isn't there. It's akin to "The Honeymooners" with only Ralph Kramden. The movie itself is mildly amusing, a rather cute idea of a villain who uses bombs to destroy clothing so he can make all of humanity dress in clothing that he produces. That would seem to have been a great idea for a Get Smart episode in itself. But though Don Adams tried, it is clear he couldn't go it alone. That mistake would fortunately be remedied in the 1988 made-for-TV reunion. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The Nude Bomb is a funny 80's comedy, but made more for Get Smart fans than regular filmgoers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty lame. But what do you expect from Get Smart? Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member ***Due to the recent RT changes that have basically ruined my past reviews, I mostly only giving a rating rather than a full review.*** Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
